    guys,

my brother-in-law just bought a volkswagen '77. need help on how to put an aircon system on it. Please advise the mods to do, as well as the estimated costs (material and labor). Pls advise also shops capable of doing this (preferred on the south area since we're in Laguna).
    Thanks.

i dont have much knowledge on the volks but there's a line of shops along sen. gil puyat (buendia) near cor. of vito cruz who specializes on volks wagens. for sure its quite far from what you are asking but the guys here know volks well. a friend of mine had his aircon installed there. the toughest part in the installation of aircon on volks are primarily the conversion/installation of pulleys and proper mounting place for the compressor. but in any case, you might want to pay them a visit if you want to have aircon installed.

    juno,

thanks for the infos. We will be going to Buendia on of these days to see the volks gurus there.

Sana mayroon din tayong mga volks gurus dito sa tsikot, para may early comparison ng prices ng parts and labor. Tulong naman po diyan.....

My one friend told me that there's a need to install water radiator, kasi mag-iinit daw masyado ang engine, hence there's a need for additional cooling unit. Paano po ba ginagawa ito? Kaya kaya ito ng 1300cc na makina ng beetle?

If you know Jimmy the wolksvagen guru from Araneta Ave. Quezon City, installs beetle aircon. :D His shop is located in-front of the defunct redline racing shop. You wont get lost there, basta may makikita ka maraming beetles near his shop and look for him there. :D

IMO, there's no need for the water radiator that your friend told you. Jimmy installs spacers on its hood hinges to lift it up by a couple of inch for the extra air that your engine needs.

result ng canvass ko aug last year..around 20-25K will do,, depende din s amp rating ng generator ng volks,,depende din kung double or single type ung blower n ilalagay mo and plus the insulation n gagawin s engine bay.. plano ko kz before lagyan ng a/c ung 69 volks ko pero hndi n2loy,,nging pera kz ung volks ko,,,binenta ko..hehehe

ang lupit ng arrive pag fully restored ang volks,,lalo n pag fancy color kilala k ng buong brgy nyo.

c jimmy highly recommended un pag volks ang usapan..dropby k s shop nya
