The \u2018King of Electric Cars\u2019 has recently announced the launch of an electric car that is affordable and price competitive when compared to equivalent gasoline powered cars, the Tesla Model 3 \u2026 and it looks great.<\/p>\n

Is the Tesla Model 3 going to be to the Automotive Industry what the iPhone was to the mobile device industry? The Model 3 is potentially going to break some grounds and create a new competitive arena by making fully electric cars mainstream.<\/p>\n

Since Tesla has unveiled the new model, which is the third addition to the company\u2019s range, it has received deposit from 400,000 people showing interest in purchasing the new Model 3.<\/p>\n

The Model 3 is a much-expected moment in Tesla history. It may change the automotive industry forever. For Tesla as a company it is a do-or-die moment, as it will expand all operations surrounding the Model 3, risking a lot of capital to ramp up production, distribution, service capacity and marketing.<\/p>\n

The Tesla Model 3 is claimed to be the company\u2019s biggest move towards mainstream cars, competing with the Chevrolet Volt and the Toyota Prius in the same size category. It will also compete with the smaller electric cars such as the BMW i3 and the Nissan Leaf.<\/p>\n

Specifications<\/h2>\n

The Tesla Model 3 will be offered with two different drive trains, a basic rear wheel-drive version and a dual motor all-wheel drive version. The Dual Motor all-wheel drive is expected to achieve around 344km range in a single charge.<\/p>\n

Shall this range be accurate; the Tesla 3 will have much better range than the Nissan Leaf, which currently has 250km range on a single charge.<\/p>\n

Tesla has not yet revealed the full specifications details. Experts say that the car will do 0-100km\/h in less than 6 seconds for the rear wheel version and around 4 seconds for the dual motor version.<\/p>\n

A 60KwH battery will power the vehicle and the company claims that it can make the battery cheaper than its competitors. Therefore, allowing Tesla to make a profit on the Model 3 by selling it at around USD35,000 (before any tax incentive).<\/p>\n

The Interior is very minimalistic, with everything being controlled by a large touch screen, which is the single element in the whole dashboard. It is not yet confirmed this will be the final interior released to the market. The interior is expected to be tech heavy with Elon Musk tweeting that the car interior will “feel like a spaceship”.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Model 3 released date is late 2017. The company constant delays in releasing the Model S and X suggests that we are more likely to start seeing the Model 3 on the roads somewhere in 2018.<\/p>\n

The consumer interest is large and it could potentially spark massive change in an industry that has been promising for a long time. The race in on and the Tesla 3 will definitely ramp up the race.<\/p>\n
