Platinum is pretty good if you have a good installer. As for the visibility problems, choose your shades wisely.
I've had platinum on a number of vehicles already. All with satisfactory results. It's a good film especially for its price range.

Hey boyz! Just had my front windshield installed with SolarGard Magic Black Neutral.
I was so freaking hesitant on having what shade to have my windshield tinted since around 3 years ago I had 3M Panther 5 (Super Black) in it from the windshield to all other windows and I was really struggling on night driving, so ended up having the windshield replaced with RikeCool clear tint (which was also good, but still would be sometimes hot since there's actually no shade in it). Unfortunately my whole front windshield was shattered last year thanks to Typhoon Milenyo. So anyway, since I had my windshield replaced, I was driving without tint on the windshield. By the way I must confess my eyesight isn't that good, so having a clear windshield was always to my benefit.
Anyway, just to cut the story short, I must say based on my experience last night, SolarGard's Magic Black Neutral is actually good! At first I was a bit scared since I felt that the windshield was a bit dark (while driving inside), but when night time came I realized my driving skills was barely impaired by the tint. Everything was still very visible despite my not so good eyesight and no HID kits :D In terms of heat rejection, I'll probably post it sometime since it was already late afternoon when I was able to drive the car around. SolarGard's tints are advertised on one of the banners to have 79% heat rejection.
When viewed from the outside, I would say the driver and passenger would still be visible at around 20%, and sometimes not, depending on the angle and lighting conditions. For me that's pretty fine since if I wasn't visible inside at all that would just give hassle and suspicion to law enforcement especially in checkpoints. Just to refresh you guys, I still have 3M Panther 5 (Super Black) on all other windows.
Just to sum everything up, I had my tint installed on LA Cars' Tint Room in Makati. I was quite surprised that Amrit still recognized me and my car from my previous visits there dating a few years back already. Cost was P1,500 for the whole front windshield. The only sad thing was the 7% charge for paying in credit card, since I was aware that DTI had already ordered policies on extra charges when paying in credit cards, however I didn't contest about it anymore. but other than that, everything was fine. :D Sorry for the lengthy post, just wanted to share my experience to those who may find the information useful. By the way, special thanks to my mom who overlooked the job while I went out to attend class. :DLast edited by kotiko; July 29th, 2007 at 10:29 AM.

July 30th, 2007 08:41 AM #359P3400 for the 3M medium black for the rear and side windows, P1600 for the Solarguard medium neutral black 1 piece for the windshield. Pinatong sa existing 3M magic neutral tint. Ganda ng effect, parang 3M black chrome daw sa sides.
Pwede pa atang mas mura as package (windshield plus all windows), kaya lang pinatira ko yung windshield after 1 week kasi. Tiningnan ko muna kung okay sa gabi. Nakakapanibago sa simula dahil hindi ako sanay pero on the second night okay na ako, ok pa rin ang visibility.

August 16th, 2007 08:38 PM #360Just had my ride tinted today. Got my Sorento already tinted with 3M black chrome bc-35 or 20 from the casa. Wondered why it's already tinted when the customer has an option for the free car tint.
Anyway, I wanted a darker tint, the bc-10. So I went to an auto store and they recommend to just install the bc-10 to the existing tint. Night came and it's kinda hard for me to see people walking at the back of my car. Do you guys think if the tint is purely bc-10, it would somehow be clearer?
Wasn't able to put a tint on my windshield since they can't do a 1-piece job on it.
A relative of mine in Canada had his Scion FR-S PPF'd and then had it ceramic coated. He says it's...
