    interesting.

badge engineering is now the name of the game.
    toyota owns daihatsu.
thus, some daihatsus had toyota stamped on the front hood, and are being sold as toyotas here.

even the yanks are playing it.

    Matagal na yung badge engineering.

GM was doing it in the 60s with different brands using the same platform/car. Chevy Camaro = Pontiac Firebird. Ford Mustang = Mercury Cougar.

Sa 80s, Chevy Cavalier = Caddilac Cimarron.

Matagal na rin yung platform sharing, where cars use essentially the same underpinnings.

Kaya nga when you buy a VW, para ka na rin bumili ng Audi. Golf = A3, Passat = A4. Touareg = Cayenne = A7. Kahit Rolls Royce uses a modified BMW 7 series platform.

Countries of manufacture does not matter if the brand has setup stiff quality controls. CVT told me that the auto industry has one of the most strict quality controls. I don't think VW's quality standards is something comparable to Foton or Haima.

I think the VWs made in China are primarily for their use and not for export unlike those in Mexico. China has some domestic auto standards that apply only to them. There might be a chance that such standards could apply to other countries but the volume of manufacture may only meet the ever growing demand for vehicles in China alone.

VW uses similar platform and engines across its multiple brands and models. Other big manufacturers do the same thing.

Ok lang yung vw/audi rebadging. At least there you can still tell how they look apart, unlike this one..

Who the hell will buy this in north america anyway? Even the staff of top gear hate the hatchback of this car so much.
