We have an announcement here, shadow --> http://tsikot.com/forums/showthread....ium-Membership
^question on this, all my functions are disabled. so even tsikoteers suspended talaga priveledge sa signature? For Tsikoteers (the special usergoup for members with equal or more than 300 posts before May 17, 2011, 2:00 PM), their current features and functions are retained. In other words, they are grandfathered-in and would enjoy the forum features and privileges they currently enjoy. Howevere, there were some changes to the Signature privileges. if prompted, kindly input back your signatures. Thank you.
^ everything's in beta pa nga ata, tweaks are still being done. Buti na lang "New Posts" stays on for new members

just a suggestion, why don't we automatically lock a thread if it reaches a certain page like 10 pages, 15 or 20?
Depends if there is a need to do that with the new server. And based on my experience with the previous setup, it would be exceeding 1500 posts or 100 pages before the difference will be felt by the users.
Also if you noticed, I usually include the last 2 to 3 pages worth of discussion in the new/continued thread to keep the discussion going. If it was automatic (without some pages of existing messages) it might just kill the momentum of the discussion.
The convention in most forums is that they close a thread after around 1000 posts. I don't think there's that much effect on server capacity. It is just i think the loss of focus or 'on-topic-ness' after so many posts in a very long thread.
Thanks GH. It's good practice to 'include the last 2 or 3 pages worth of discussion' in the new thread to maintain the momentum and feel of the closed thread.

Unfortunately, it requires a real person to deem a locked thread "useless" or otherwise.
But I have already deleted a lot of the old and idle threads from many of the subforums, especially in the MISC sub forums. I generally avoided deleting stuff from the technical discussion subforums.
