This is news to me -- usually this would be the "Feast of the Immaculate Conception" so it's Catholic Schools that would have some sort of celebration or mass on this day, if not total suspension of classes. In Taguig it would be a non-working holiday.

Dec. 8 declared as a holiday in Taguig City - Official Website of The City of Taguig - Official Website of The City of Taguig

I see articles saying Dec. 8 was approved by congress already during the middle of the year....just can't find "official" news on it. Not sure how approved stuff works in congress.

[Mabuti pa si Tsong,- ginawang Foundation Day ng Paranaque,- one day before ng bertdey ni Kristeta - e di tuloy tuloy ang aksyon... Ibahin mo si Tsong... maabilidad ]

it's always been a Catholic Holiday.
It's one of only three Catholic Holidays of Obligation in the philippines.
but it's not a walang-pasok-government-declared-holiday, as we wish it would be.

Post-script ko lang -- apparently, December 8 is not YET a national holiday. Maybe next year when the law gets passed?

Ang nakakainis pa ay yun local media nagrelease ng #walangpasok na headline which fueled the fire that there were class suspensions on Dec. 8. Clickbait lang talaga. They should have let it be as it is. Kung Katoliko sila, magsimba na lang sila at obligado sila sa araw na yun.

Along the same lines people should be warry and be SMART -- in the era of online trolls there are news circulating about Dec 26 and Jan 2. NOTE THE DATE OF THESE HEADLINES (those were 2016 holidays).

    Happy Monday everyone!

Hmmm so government employees can "celebrate the holidays with their families & loved ones" while those in the private sector can't?

More of the Government considers the employers na tatamaan if ideclare for private employees also, lalo na yung kahit holidays eh may pasok pa din since mas malaki bayad ng employers pag ganun cases.
