There will be classes on Feb. 24 and 27, the Friday before and the Monday after the 26th anniversary of the EDSA-1 People Power revolution.

The Department of Education (DepEd) made this clear after getting questions on its Twitter account on whether classes will be suspended on those days, the workdays immediately before and after the anniversary of EDSA-1.

"Yes there are classes on Friday," DepEd said on its Twitter account, in response to a tweeted question.

It similarly said there will be classes on Monday.

Netizens who tweeted the questions said they had been informed there would be a "holiday" either on Friday or Monday.

The DepEd supervises public and private schools up to the high school level.

On Saturday, the nation marks the 26th anniversary of the EDSA 1 revolt, where people took to the streets to oust then strongman Ferdinand Marcos and install Corazon Aquino, mother of incumbent President Benigno Aquino III, as president. — LBG, GMA News
