Patar is very much passable to both (si M2 RAV4 nga dala eh)
Actually, the whole 20+ km road stretch from the main hiway all the way to Patar are characterized by a mixed paved, gravel and under construction road nung time na pumunta kami last summer. Siguro by this time, patag na yung iba, don't know lang yung condition lately especially with the onset of rainy season, may mga madadaanan kayo malamang na stretch of muddy paths but I think manageable naman.
Good roads btw especially from the last stretch (Lighthouse to White sand beaches), reminds me of the highway going to Patapat in Ilocos...
Enjoy po and have a safe trip!

* mongaddi
may bato naman talaga but its more like pebble/gravel-like to sandy ang road since tabing dagat yung daan kaya manageable yun if you are using Vios, and major parts of that road ay concrete, some portions lang talaga ang unpaved.
Medyo hilly or steep places madadaanan mo in Pangasinan are Sual, Labrador and approach to Bolinao, pero kaya pa din yan ng Vios, road is much like Antipolo hehe.
Again, enjoy po your trip and Ingat po! Dont forget the pics....

July 28th, 2007 02:23 AM #34Haay, bolinao. Been there thrice in over a decade (naglilibot ako ng Pinas at naghahagilap ng magandang beach na malapit). My first time, I thought I discovered paradise despite (or because of) the then 20 km rough road from the town to the end of Patar. We were staying in Dutch beach resort at the time. The food had a weird (they'll cook lang food that you bring at the time)arrangement but Patar was fantastic! It was peak of summer then and there were less than a handful or people there, half of them foreign adventurers.
The water was crystal clear and the sand was oh-so-clean.
The place went quickly downhill specially nung mauso forums ... now the place smacks of La Union at its peak of popularity with overcrowded picnic tables, people, trash, and noise.
Kung gimik hanap niyo at medyo enjoy kayo sa rough conditions, it's a good alternative to Bora, I suppose. But if you're after clean, clear, quiet, and relaxing, I wouldn't recommend it there (anymore).

We went to Punta Riviera Resort last June. Eto lang mga comments ko.
1.) maganda naman yung resort mismo.Madaming picture spots kung mahilig kayo sa peechure2x tulad ng grupo namin..hehe
2.)Food, hindi ako impressed. Nung dinner nga namin niset up nila sa may garden. Pero wala charge to experience nalang.
3.)beach in front of riviera, napakababaw.naglakad kami hanggang sa malayo eh nakaslippers kami kasi mabato.

Any pics?
My brother and his family are thinking of spending their vacation in Bolinao next year, and they are asking me for recommendations regarding good resorts to stay in and beaches to visit. I'm planning to go there for an ocular inspection sometime this month. Kaya ba ng Sedona o Starex ang mga rough portions ng daan papuntang Patar Beach?
