puerto del sol has the best accomodation in bolinao, very large swimming pool, native huts, nice landscape.....not so nice beach.

i suggest that you stay at puerto del sol tapos punta na lang kayo sa beach beside the Treasures of Bolinao Resort, sa may dulo..... malinaw tubig, fine white sand. mas enjoy ako dito kesa sa boracay lalo na kung konti lang naliligo.

or u can just stay at Treasure of Bolinao kasi katabi na lang nila yung mgandang beach.

Thanks for all your inputs...Inquired sa Puerto del Sol, they have large rooms for 4 persons at 8,800 per night plus 980 per head up to 8 people lang ang allowed. Thus, for a group of 15 we would need 2 rooms...ouch na-shaken ang budget

If we can find a beach house sa Patar mismo the better since di naman kami magkukulong sa rooms, will do beach hopping, konting hiking papunta sa waterfalls, sidetrip to Patar Lighthouse.

Among the cheaper hotels madami akong nakitang hits dito nung ni search ko, at wala namang gaanong bad comments, so mukhang ok naman.

6pm yata nagsasara.

Generally, I am disappointed with our trip to Bolinao, Pangasinan as compared to our previous trips to Laiya, Batanggas or Panglao, Bohol. Here's my short review of the places that we went to.

Punta Riviera, Ilog Malino, Bolinao, Pang.
The resort is located interestingly in an estuary where the river meets the sea. It is already the biggest resort in the area (even compared to the much hyped Puerto del Sol) since it also includes a private mangrove area by the beach. At first, we were very impressed with the place with its well-maintained garden & interesting architecture. But as soon as we saw the miniscule room that they claim is good for 5 persons, it is all downhill from there.

Since there would be six of us, we instead got two of those rooms. There's not much space inside the room though thankfully it has a good view of the bay and a nipa cottage at the entrance. For most of the rooms, it is jampacked with people for its maximum claimed capacity.

The food is quite pricey and for our lunch we had to wait for an hour before it is served. The food selection is few and for is not worth it for its price (e.g. P180 for a small serving of pinakbet). At least the staff and OJTs were helpful and friendly.

To our dismay, a karaoke machine is available in the resort and in no time, people were belting out songs that would shame William Hung. Thankfully our request for the volume to be toned down a bit was granted. The ambiance of the resort was further degraded with the sheer number of people packed in the resort of the not-so-good behaviour of some (e.g. using a soap in the pool's open shower, throwing trash in the giant jars).

The beach is very disappointing. During the low tide, we had to walk a bit before the water even reached up to our knees. And further out, the sand was mixed with soft mud (burak). A real turnoff.

    Enchanting Cave, Patar, Bolinao, Pangasinan

This is the first of many caves in the area of Bolinao. The entrance fee was P10 per head plus a P20 parking fee.

This cave is located in a well-maintained compound with a couple of houses of the owners presumably. A short climb up a hill with a stairway is required and it is interesting to see the coral-like rocks strewn across the hills along with ipil-ipil trees. The decent to the cave is small & narrow but the cave itself is about two stories high. The water was clear, cold & deep although the air inside was very humid. This is not a place to leave your children to wade as the water depth drops to around 7 feet already a few feet from the entrance.
There are sharp rocks near the shore though these were thoughtfully cordoned off by the owners.

    Cindy's Cave, Patar, Bolinao, Pangasinan

From Enchanting Cave, we also passed by a few other caves and Cindy's was the last one. The minimum entrance fee was P75 for 1-5 persons or P20 each for groups with 6 persons or more.

A father & son tandem is in charge of the place and were very helpful. The cave is not that big although there is a wading area covered with sand that permits non-swimmers to wet their ankles with the cold water. Birds also inhabit the cave and their nests dot the cave's ceiling. Thankfully, the owners do not harvest the nests to sell as an ingredient to the famed Nido Soup. Unlike in the other cave, children can swim in half of the cave's shallow pool and the air inside is cool & refreshing.

I'll post later my reviews of the other places that we went to.
