hello tsikot masters,
ano po ba ang best way to pro-long the transmission of an automatic engine during traffic??
thanks!

March 6th, 2011 02:46 PM #3yep shift to nuetral when in prolonged stops...pag older cars religiously change your ATF kung kaya ng yearly mas ok kundi after 2 years para fresh at replenish ang ATF nya to avoid contaminant biuld up sa transmissions.. and avoid using your nuetral to brake the car

makikisingit na rin ako dito with my querry. yong sa akin kasi, pag naka-neutral during full stop traffic and pag shift ko sa drive, parang iba ang arangkada. is there something wrong w/ my trans.? pero what i am doing is to shift it to park kung full stop naman, then, pag balik sa drive, smooth naman ang shifting. ok lang po ba to? what ATF are you using ba? i'm using donax ATF, pero my mechanic told me that castrol ATF is better daw. I change my ATF yearly.

Never kong i prolong ang drive in heavy traffic, I usually use neutral. Kasi when your stepping on the breaks me counter force ang transmission and break system. So it would be stressfull sa dalawa especially sa automatic tranny, parang naka steepuphill climb sya na me heavy load at di maakyat
Me kilala nga ako laging naka babad sa Drive, ayun awa ng diyos sibak ang automatic trannynya!

Much better to install in series an oil cooler...you may get it from the surplus yards. mine costs P800. it was originally used as an engine oil cooler for 4d56 but basically they have the same function. just clean the internals first then install it at the return line after the internal cooler located at the engine radiator bottom tank (if you have one). heat is the primary enemy of automatics and most of the heat is generated at the torque converter......
actually, i should have done it a year ago. now my transmission shifts too soon from D1 to D2 even before i installed the oil cooler.

iNuetral mo pag tanya mo eh more than 30sec pa bago umusad.pero kung saglit lang usad na naman.wag mo na ilipat sa "N"...madaling masira o magloose yung shift lever mo.
Choice I would have made as well.
