shift to d then wait 1-2 secs. o kaya pag naramdaman mong gusto nang umandar ng sasakyan, pero napigilan lang ng brake, that's the time to disengage the brake and start driving.

This happens to me also in our 97 Accord vtis. There is an approximately one second delay after you have shifted from N to D before you feel the transmission has "engaged" and ready to accelerate.

Our 97 Civic Vti does not have this delay. It engages instantly once shifted to D.

ok so what is the correct and safe way for the tranny to have longer life,

step first on brake or just let it jerk??

The life of your tranny doesn't depend on whether you step on the brakes or not when shifting from N to D. We're just emphasizing safety here. Even in a manual tranny you don't just lift your foot when in a full stop and on neutral unless you're certain you are on flat level ground and the vehicle is not rolling either forward or backward. I even use my park during stops at traffic lights.

step on the brake, then shift.

nasanay na ko, and am applying it to every A/T car na namamaneho ko.

    WBR,
Change your ATF regularly as per you manuals specified interval or sooner.

mga sirs may tanong lang po ako regarding A/T.

from idle na shift mo by mistake 2 instead of D. while cruising napansin mo mali pala.

can u move the lever back to D without stopping your vehicle?

    thanks much

mapapansin mo yun pag naka D2 lang. You can shift from D2 to D or to D1 while moving. wag lang R. Dapat full stop ka.

you can shift from "L" or "1" to "2" to "D3" or "D" anytime. it will in no way harm your transmission. in effect, youre telling the transmission to upshift.

maraming salamat po. dahil nung nangyari sakin yan naghanap pa ako ng shoulder to stop kasi napansin ko umuusok likod ng starwagon ko yon pala naka D2. mga 70kmlang naman takbo ko.

    follow up question:

in normal operations, the gear shifts by itself in sequence.

ngayon kung naka lock ka sa D2 at 60kph at lipat mo sa D, may extra boost ba sya compare to the normal operation? (like in manual tranny)

sorry po sa kakulitan...wala kasing manual tong mga delica e.

    thanks

most probably wala, because you're using the same gear ratios through the same torque converter. ang advantage lang ng "sequential manual shifting" na ganyan ay kung hindi pinapaabot ng redline yung transmission in a lower gear (this means that the A/T is poorly designed). but generally, kung i-floor mo yung accelerator, dapat sa redline na din maguupshift yung A/T, which is the same as manually redlining it in D2 and then manually upshifting to third gear. depends on how smart the A/T is though

Pwede, but only if necessary, e.g., you need to stop/slow down immediately -- D3/D2 will serve as engine-brake.

I'm not sure kung ano ang max. speed na pwedeng i-shift down ang car mo from D to D3 without causing damage pero siguro 80KPH is a safe speed for D3, and 40 for D2.
