Questions regarding A/T- D, 2, L?

newbie here with my first AT car...

question lang po sirs regarding AT, im driving a city 09 at laging naka-D most of the time. Pag higway, nilalagay ko sa S.

1. ask ko lang po, kung mabilis ang takbo mo at mahaba pa ang daan, is it advisable to put it in N (neutral), then pag mabagal ka na, put it in D ulit? to save gas po ba yun or wala lang or it would do more harm?

2. also, masama din po ba na mabilis takbo mo then malayo pa lang, nakikita mo nang red ang stop light, you place it on N then break to full stop? again, to save gas po ba yun or wala lang or it would do more harm?

Shifting to N while moving in any case is not recommended by most car makers. Older A/Ts will shift to 1st gear from N, which will pretty much destroy the engine if moving quickly. That isn't the case on newer A/Ts, but better safe than sorry.

EDIT:

I've also heard that the City saves gas if put in D than in S. But on the highway, I'd still use the manumatic buttons to shift or engine brake manually.
