If your A/T has grade logic or similar fuzzy logic intelligence, it may retard the up-shift but they're still subject to certain programming limitations.
That's true. My point was, this and a few other situations which warrant 2 or L are not typical, hence the average Juan drivers can usually get away with just using D. ;)

    Just use D

2 and L are just used for extreme conditions. Going down the mall ramp isn't one of them. 99.95% of driving conditions can be handled by the D mode of the A/T
2 is used mostly for low grip conditions (ICE) to prevent wheel spin
L is used for heavy load engine breaking on very long downhills (miles long downhill, not going down parking ramps) where there is a big chance you can overheat the brakes.

D can cover most conditions, it automatically downshifts when going uphill and when the gas pedal is suddenly jammed into the floor (triggers emergency downshift mode, only upshifts when the pedal is released a little bit).
Remember 2 and L puts some stress on the engine and transmission components, it is easier to put the wear and tear on the brake pads than the transmission as long as you don't overheat the brakes. most brakes don't overheat that quick anyway.

moa yan..mahaba corkscrew incline nyan when entering/exiting... kung nababagalan ka sa L, 2 is ok.. pero kung D uubusin/paiinitin mo lang ng labis ang preno mo...

sa totoo lang mga pipol ay hindi ko pa nagamit and D2 and L (honda civic vtec)...on D lang ako when driving...flat terrain naman always ang tinatahak ko e.

pero dito sa MOA covered parking area na corkscrew nga ang shape...sa pag-EXIT/pababa (either from 4th or 3rd level), i would be in D, maluwag man or meron pila going down. minsan i would release pa my foot from the accelarator pag maluwag...hahaha...pero alalay sa brake...yun nga lang, palagi ko naiisip what it will do to my brakes when at D going down/exiting the corkscrew parking ramp of MOA.
