    hello!

for the info lang. This is what I've read in the auto tranny manual for mitsubishi only(W4A33 transmission)..don't know with others......

Pag naka "P" ka ung atf hindi dumadaan sa aux. system cooler, pero pag "N" dumadaan ung fluid sa cooler.Usually pag start sa umaga, naka "P" para ma heat up to operating temp ung ATF before driving.

proven na ito because I installed a thermometer gauge sa ride ko para mamonitor ko ung temp ng ATF.malalaman mo rin kung nag ooverheat ung fluid before hand to prevent tranny failure.Normal operating temp of ATF is between 50-85'C.Most tranny fail after fluid overheating.

so My advice is when idling for long period, better to put in "N" pos and "P" only before stoping your engine.

Important thing also is never put any ATF to your ride unless it meets the manufacturers specification.Shifting points & clamping pressure of bands inside will vary with the type of fluid used.

    hope this helps. HAPPY SHIFTING................

sulzer, what is your transmission temperature gauge? is it one designed solely for a/ts or is it just a typical temp gauge? how did you install it? tia.

shifting point for A/Ts depends on how hard you step on your accelerator pedal, the harder your step on it, the higher the shifting point.

para san po ba ang o/d?

    O/D or overdrive engages the 4th gear for 4spd A/T and 5th gear on 5spd A/Ts.

Oh and one more, don't ever leave the tranny in drive when stopping coz' it will heat up the torque converter especially on hot climates like here in pinas.

Its an electrical resistant type gauge not a conventional capillary tube type na mabibili mo na mura.Auto Gauge ang tatak(cost 1900 pesos, complete kit with connector)pang auto tranny talaga, nag advice skin ung tyuhin ko sa US kasi sa tranny shop din sya nagwork.kinabit namin ung sensor bulb sa oil pan ng transmission(sa drain plug).

technically speaking, O/D or overdrive is when the gear ratio is less than 1.0, meaning mas mabilis ang ikot ng driven gear kesa sa driver gear.

in plain english, ito yung pinakamataas mong gear. don't be confused by the term OVERDRIVE. akala kasi ng nakararami, pampabilis or pampalakas ito ng car. hindi po. usually, meron pong separate button for increasing the power of your car for A/Ts, but this actually only delays the shifting point to a higher rpm.
