mas matagal ang service interval ng automatic transmissions. yung manual transmission kasi depende minsan sa driving style ng driver, minsan mabilis mapudpod yung clutch disc. yung A/T kasi fluid type sya and electronically controlled ang shifting kaya kahit pano mo apakan ang accelerator, nasa mood parin ng A/T system mo ang pagshift.

O/D means 4th gear (for 4-speed transmissions) or 5th gear (for 5-speed transmissions. O/D is normally turned ON. if you turn off O/D, your transmission will only shift up to 3rd gear (for 4-speed transmissions) or 4th gear (for 5-speed transmissions).

shifting point for A/Ts depends on how hard you step on your accelerator pedal, the harder your step on it, the higher the shifting point.

thanks guys. i know P locks up the transmission so i'm a bit confused which is better to use at the time parked and idling. at a red light, yup i use N if i think the waiting time(stationary) would be at least around 3 mins, otherwise i leave it at D.

magilos dali lang i-drive A/T, having came from a manual transmission myself. di mo na aalalahanin shifting gears at tapak sa clutch. you'll see pag nakuha mo na car mo. at nasa manual din ng kotse how to drive yong automatic transmission. search ka rin dito sa thread about info on A/T.

"N" and the parking brake are the best combo for traffic lights. For waiting for periods longer that that, engaging the parking brake and shifting to "P" is good.

But NEVER use "P" to hold the vehicle still. That's what the parking brake is for. Unless you want a VERY expensive parking brake.
