actually i'm not familiar with your trans but i'm explaining some basic principles of a/t trans. if your trans is electronic you most probably need a scanner for it, since it's an isuzu maybe you can go to isuzu dealers and inquire if they can scan the trans or gm might able to scan it (tech 1 or tech2 scanner), gm used to carry the isuzu imports.

Tama si Nap use that thread for reference.
Tama rin si T2ern.
Since you are told to check transmission concentrate on the transmission.
Since speedometer ay kasama sa nagloloko.
Check the VSSensor which is located on the top of the transmission(4L30-E).

right sir 4jgtootsie his trans is a gm 4L30E (hydramatic trans by gm) na check ko rin sa trans reference ko. faulty tps will cause erratic shift, faulty vss will result in odo malfunction and shift, yung blinking ng od can be caused ng trans overheating (dis-abling the 4th gear). common problems ng hydramatic ay yung mga shift solenoids. gm trans control modules is ussually at the pcm din (ecu). so your best bet is to have your trans scanned. i have a gm tech1 scanner but i'm not sure kung ma access ang trans mo. since it's 96 model maybe it's already obd2 (if it has a 16-pin DLC sa lower part ng dash beside the steering column).

problem related to autoshifting was encountered last month sa isuzu ko... Buti na lang at madaming mababait dito sa forum na libreng tumulong sakin.
possible nga Sir na TPS problem kagaya ng nasabi ni Sir Nap.
just to add.... try mo din i check yung sump filter [ located sa loob ng a/t trans], baka madumi na. drain mo yung ATF, removed oil pan, removed sump filter [makikita mo yung maliit/medyo manipis na metal casing sa loob nya ay very fine na wire mesh.
kailangn mo tungkabin yung gilid ng sump filter using flat screw driver para matangal at malinis yung wire mesh]...
kung hindi mo type ang D.I.Y. ay magagawa yan ng mekaniko para sayo.

I think the last 4JG2s use the 4L30 with TCS. The AR-5 can be used for the 6VD1 and 4JX1 A/Ts. The MUA 5s is for 4JG2 and MUA 5c for 4JX1 and 6VD1 M/Ts. My basis is the availability of 4x2 and 4x4 models and descrepencies on gear ratios. In short Hula.
Baka rin pina iksi lang nila from AW30-40LE to 40LE-AW30 to 4L30E. Parang algebra transposition at cancelation.Last edited by 4JGtootsie; August 9th, 2007 at 10:56 PM.

Reviving this thread.
Experienced the same problem today- flashing CHECK TRANS & SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. Other than that, truck seems to be running fine.
Hindi ma-diagnose ng mechanic ko yung problem (kasi computer & automatic mahirap daw), but based on this thread mukhang speed sensor kailangan ko palitan.
Several questions lang po:
1. Saan location ng speed sensor? Pag maturo ko sa mechanic, kami nalang magpapalit.
2. Sa pag-canvass ko may 2 klase daw: 1. may wire 2. walang wire. Ano dun ang sa 96 Bighorn 4JG2 A/T?
3. Sa presyo- may Korean made na 2200+ (Jetco).
- original 5200+ (Jayson's)
- original 7900+ (Casa)
Ok ba yung Korean made? I'm assuming yun ang nabili ni attic-dude. O pag ganyang pyesa dapat ba original?

After a few days nag drive ako sa nlex, hirap na hirap yung makina pag dating sa 80 papuntang 100 km/hr, para bang naka overdrive lang lagi, tnry kong patayin at buksan yung overdrive (yung maliit na button sa kambyo), parang walang pag babago sa takbo. Nag init ulo ko kasi mukang mali yung diagnosis nila. Tama ba na ung "sensor" na sinasabi nila yung problema? And it will fix the shifting problem?
