September 3rd, 2007 08:58 AM #11thanks for the suggestions!
following speedyfix's suggestions, i will try to use ordinary ATF first.
i'll probably use Total Dexron III (Php130 obly here :D) altough the car requires Dexron II only.
I'll change ATF then again after 2 weeks or so then change again after 2 weeks.
siguro nman lilinis na yung loob ng transmission.
then will observe after the whle process is done.
cost = 2.5 liters per oil change x 3 oil change x 130 pesos per liter = Php1,000 more or less

ususally 4-6 liters lang naman ang car a/t.. para 1 linis nalang, ganito gawin mo:
drain, remove the a/t oil pan, remove the a/t hoses in the radiator(2 yun) and have a drip pan ready, remove the filter inside, clean pan and magnets using either kerosene or diesel.. clean filter if cleanable..otherwise, replace.
replace filter, magnets and the oilpan. refill the oilpan, start engine(dont shift a/t lever), let the oil poured out of the hoses to a drip pan. if the amout of oil is almost the same amout of drained atf on the pan, stop the engine, refill oil pan with atf. repeat this process until the atf comes out of the hoses is of the same color that you put in.
after that, reconnect the hoses, refill the a/t to level.. on a level surface/ jack-up the car on all 4 wheels, start the engine, press the brake pedal and handbrake up, shift from P to the last choice on the lever(usually 1 or L) and back to P with 2 sec interval in each position... while the engine is running check a/t level.. repeat process until nasa almost on the "H" or full level of the dip stick... dont over fill!
then drive it...kung di parin umoka tumakbo, hanap ka ng surplus a/t na....or ipon ka ng pang-overhaul

September 3rd, 2007 10:03 PM #14ok. yummy's method seems a little complicated.
will try to review the repair manual first and see if i can easily locate the filter etc.
mas ok nga sana kung ma drain lahat ng lumang oil. if i am not mistaken, the manual says 5.4 liters for overhaul and 2.___ liters pag change oil lang. ang laking volume pala ang ndi maalis. thats why ulit ultin ko na lang.

September 3rd, 2007 10:54 PM #15so i browsed the service manual but i cant find the location of the filter.
do civic esi that old (93) have oil filters in their A/T?
if i remove the oil pan, i need a new gasket right?
i thought it might be a good idea to clean the oil pan and maybe the magnet.
tnx!

The filter is usually in the pan. Along with the magnets. Yes, you'll need a new gasket.
Alwayz_yummy's method is how to do a 'ghetto A/T' flush without the need for expensive machines to do it for you.

September 4th, 2007 03:08 AM #17Mga sir. Newbie lang ako pagdating sa AT
Every 20thou kilometers or 40 thou kilometer ang change ATF?
palit filter, oilpan, magnet din? Ano pa kailangan palitan at dapat isabay sa pagpalit?

you can use your old gasket if its not torned during the removal proess-->just use silicone selant....
its a DIY-backyard thing that i learned while reading my 4x4mag..(sayang wala na nito 2003 pa dami ko natutunan din dun...)
palit filter kung di na malilinisan, palit magnet kung durog na(seriously how will this happend) palit oil pan kung butas na...
depende sa model po.. filter is always inside, the pan.. mom's kia pride gtx-matic tranny has no drain plug! so to drain, remove the pan itself... my former delica and my liteace has a drain plug..
usually, gasket(premade na bilhin mo,cork type yun, not the vinyl one) cost 500-600, filter, 1000-1200.. gaas/diesel=1 liter lang, 6 liters of right spec atf, +labor kung di ikaw gagawa...

siyempre, pag kinabit, lagyan mo ng tamang amout ng oil ang oilpan bago po nyu start....
the amount is the oil pan capacity
kung kada linggo mo din drain-flush ganun din ang amount, pero will not guarantee you a clean flush--dirty ATF will still mix w/ the new.
kaya nga po 6 liters lang,e... most likely capacity of the oilpan= atf left in the TC, cooler and a/t...the only way you'll be using more oil in this method is when you want to see the outgoing oil color = new oil color...pero 6 liters is just right to replce them all..
wow... this is so dangerous sa highway. pero I'm more interested sa 0-60 nya for local city...
