Good day friends!
Is the axle ratio going to change if you swap out the A/T from a different model vehicle? The stock axle ratio is 3.62, while the donor is at 3.79. I know it’s possible to re-gear RWD vehicles, but is there a way to mechanically change the axle ratio for a front-wheel drive vehicle?
If none, I’m thinking “taller” tires would be needed with the new transmission to compensate for this. There is a 3.71% difference between the stock wheel diameters of both cars (648mm vs. 668mm). There is no exact tire combo with the existing wheels to match the 668mm diameter. A smaller option is at 654mm (2.15% smaller) and the other is at 676.4 (1.21% bigger).
I’m inclined to stick with the existing wheels and the smaller tire option above. I know the speedometer/odometer would be off if I do this, but other than that, would anything else be compromised (engine, brakes, transmission, etc.) running with the smaller tires above, or would the difference be negligible?
Thanks in advance!
