been hearing about jeepney phaseout 10 years ago
panahon ng debates namin ni jpdm
ejeepney daw mag replace sa diesel jeepney
pero di ma-phase out ang jeepney
kahit after term ni Du30 di mawawala ang jeepney
i'm willing to bet real money on that

It is tough for these politicos to enact laws that impact those people who provides them with the necessary votes to be elected in office. Even worse, some local government folks will not do anything that will hamper their plans of re-election.

hindi ma-phase out ang mga 3rd world transpo coz too many people's livelihood depend on it
pilit mo i-phase out mga yan you'll be depriving a lot of people (voters) of their only source of income
don't tell me maghanap sila ng ibang trabaho
those people are unemployable elsewhere that's why they're jeepney drivers and tricycle drivers in the first place
if you deprive them of their only source of income you get a SOCIAL problem
too many idle, able-bodied men = crime and violence
then it becomes a POLITICAL problem
there's no easy solution so politicians kick the can down the road
meaning they delay or postpone the phaseout
kaya hindi maalis ang mga 3rd world transpo sa PinasLast edited by uls; September 18th, 2019 at 02:03 PM.

Ewan ko ba dito sa atin. Walang common sense. Parang nasa ulap ang isip ng mga politico. Ganyan siguro talaga pag masyadong masarap ang buhay.

September 19th, 2019 12:02 PM #28Two words come to mind when it comes to enforcement, SELECTIVE APPLICATION.
Pero yun nga weird sa atin, pinipilit agad first world rules pero not to all. Mostly to the middle class ang tutok ng enforcement. The rest, ignore lang kasi it doesn't apply or cannot apply.

September 19th, 2019 01:52 PM #30marcos tried. he failed miserably.
duterte is trying. he hasn't admitted to failure yet.
the problem, it seems to me, is that there is no viable alternative. i mean, how can you convince the operator to ditch his worth-next-to-nothing current jeepney, for a million-peso replacement?Last edited by dr. d; September 19th, 2019 at 01:55 PM.
IIRC they're with AVID. The reported numbers in the TG article are from CAMPI.
