Sabi ng LTO yung bagong plaka with all those security features will thwart all would be carnappers and thieves. Yeah right, eh konting baha lang pala katapat ng mga bagong plaka na yan at wala na binatbat, tapos na ang boksing, sira agad, tanggal agad, problema agad.
Mga abnoy ba kayong lahat diyan sa ahensiya?
HOY LTO, GISING!!!!!!!!!!! Pinupulot na kayong lahat sa kangkungan ah.
DRIVING THROUGH FLASH FLOOD REVEALS JUST HOW FLIMSY THE NEW LICENSE PLATES ARE
We sincerely wish we could completely refrain from writing about license plates or anything that has to do with the Land Transportation Office. We fear we're beginning to sound like we're in the middle of a smear campaign to discredit this government agency.
But what can we do? The stories just keep flooding our mailbox.
And speaking of flooding, here are two separate reports about how driving through a flash flood will easily damage the new-design license plates.
First, Joel Buenrostro (top photo) tells us:
I just want to share how poor the quality of the new LTO plates are. This is what happened to my front plate when I drove through knee-deep flood this afternoon (June 18). Question is: How can I have this fixed when it is screwed permanently?
Second, Anthony Demition (photo below) reports:
We found this plate here on our street (G. Molina) in Canumay East in Valenzuela City, due to the sudden rush of flood from heavy rains a while ago (June 18). Kindly post on your page so the owner can claim it. My mobile number is (0933) 260-5299.
We don't want to say anything else. You be the judge. We just want to warn you now that the floody season has begun.

Bukas makalawa sasabihin ng LTO OK na ulit mag plate covers sa bagong mga plaka para iwas tupi. Pero LTO ka lang makakabili ng plate covers na yun.

They really need to re-allow use of plate protection against this flood damage, pedestrians hitting/bending it, minor accidents. Then provide common sense enforcement against limiting the view of the plates - shaded/tinted plate covers, plate tilting, stickers.

June 25th, 2015 11:20 AM #38na curious ako sa hindi mabasang barcode ng new LTO plates, so i tried using QR reader apps of my phone. and guess what... it works! so baka may plan silang iiequip ng smart phones ang mga TE with barcode scanner apps that will automatically search their database to get the details of the car. sana nga ganito ang plan nila para naman di masayang yong binayaran natin sa new plates. but knowing LTO, maybe it will happen 10 years from now...

June 25th, 2015 11:48 AM #40wala akong video but you can try it yourself. just download any barcode scanner apps if you don't have one on your phone. i think hindi talaga magwowork yong barcodes using standard barcode scanners kasi napakaliit ng bars for the sensors to detect the change in light intensity compare sa phone cam na iaanalyze lang yong image and once na may magmatch na pattern that's it.
