Exactly. Sa garage namin masikip na rin so if I buy an additional car, I'll leave it outside na pero isasampa ko sa driveway kaya wala pa din sa street

    for the common office employee,
buying the cheapest car is usually a serious undertaking.

    for the well-to-do,
it's as easy as a whim.

for me... the normal office employee commutes/car pools to work

those I know who were issued a car (med/sale rep) kept their 5 year old cars para may pang coding sila... the other car is used by a family member din kapag di coding.

sa office namin... you can expect A/M and up to drive a car/bike

MMDA: Four-day workweek, ‘daylight saving time’ office hours may improve traffic situation

Pinababalik sa kalsada yung ng WFH tapos sa kabila eh bawal lumabas ng sasakyan 2 days a week at 4 days work week.

    decongest the roads.

they can just adopt the original odd-even as originally proposed by general maganto.
that's instant 50% reduction of cars on the road.

only solution to traffic is to ban cars with small engines.

only cars with 6 cylinders and 4 liters and above are allowed in Metro Manila.

It's easier to buy a coding car kung odd even scheme. I guess a lot of people would not need to buy a new coding car if this is implemented, but in our household and even my Lola's (where I can borrow a car), it's all EVEN!

I hate this country so much! Palpak na government, may chance na nga umayos pero anong values meron mga Pilipino, majority wanting to elect the family that bled our country dry! How I wish I could migrate to a Nordic country

I think it was when banks and casas became lenient with loans nung dumami cars sa road. Dati naman mostly cash OR if loan mataas ata down at strict approval.

when one balances the ease of obtaining car loans, with one's ability to come up with down payments,
and considering the difficulty of commuting,
car sales will only go up.

    then.
    now.
    in the future, i imagine.
laluna ngayon, when the cheaper china cars are making their move...

Especially now. Malaki sweldo ng BPO at call center. High enough to afford down-payment for sub compact and below cars. Yung iba year end bonus pang down na.

I think it's inherently wrong that the MMDA was given full control over this issue.

At the core of it the problem is economic. Having a lot of cars and thus traffic is actually a good sign that the economy is doing well. But the MMDA is only focused on the single aspect of traffic.

So let's say they are able to reduce the volume of cars by implementing a full odd-even scheme, but it comes at the expense of slowing down business.

The reason we want cars to flow faster is so that people can go about their business faster and make more money for the entire country. With super-draconian vehicle reduction methods instead of doing their transactions immediately, it gets put off to the next day... Fewer people going to the malls, etc. Naging self-defeating yung solution.

I don't even know why they are considering this. Yes, traffic is bad again, but it is no worse than 2019 which also had a standard one day a week coding. Skyway 3 has somewhat helped the traffic situation as well. In my anecdotal experience, its still much better than the traffic in 2019. Ortigas to Alabang rush hour trips used to take up to 3 hours on a Friday and, and now it takes less than 1.5 hours. Perhaps they can revisit the concept when the traffic is nearing 2019 levels.

They can also consider mothballing the forced RTO of BPOs as well, but that is outside of the MMDA's jurisdiction
