I really hate this kind of situation... I bought several cars in the past wherein it took 2 months or more for a plate. You have a new car, but then whats the point of buying one if you can't use it? Also, I dont get it why the government can't just produce plate numbers in advance? Dont they have things like computers that can predict how many new plate numbers will be needed in the short to long term? Whatever happend to long term data driven strategic thinking? Pero pag special plates na pang auction meron na sila agad? WTF?!

Ako, Im into my 4th new car and each time, the plates were delayed. Especially at the end of the year when a lot of people buy cars. The LTO, the Highway Patrol, MMDA are aware of this and are sympathetic. In fact, I drove my new Yaris from November 20 to January 28 with no plates and no sticker. The dealer just kept updating the Delivery Receipt weekly.

Di din kasi fault ng dealer if there is a big demand for new plates and stickers that LTO can't handle. After I got my plates on the 28th, wala pa din sticker so I waited another week.

Hindi naman instant na may plates and sticker na yung OR and CR. The dealer will assign you the plate number that you want and that number will be reflected in a report that the dealer will submit to LTO for update. Only then will you get a numbered sticker set from LTO to correspond with your plates and registration.

And all that is paperwork. Imagine if they sold more than a hundred cars and all these were purchased on different dates, di naman practical i-process yan ng isa-isa!

The entire 2 and a half months na wala akong plates, no law enforcer ever flagged me down. So don't worry. So long as you have a valid DR that says the car is less than 7 days old and your conduction sticker is intact, safe ka. The cops have no way of verifying this kasi the dealers sell the cars at random and do not follow the sequence of the conduction sticker. They prolly do this on pupose.

Good time pa nga yung 2.5 months eh. Kasi in the case of my 2004 my Vios, it got caught on C5 almost four months after purchase (December) wala pa rin plates and reg. Umabot pa complaint ko sa Presidente ng TMP si Mr. Tabata. I got the plates April 2004. TQA or Commonwealth ba dealer mo? Notorious yan sila sa delay...

BTW, Makati and Pasay use the last number of the conduction sticker to enforce "coding" for plateless cars. FYI

I am using deflector plate protectors.. siguro mga less than 10 times pa lang ako nadaan ng makati. Wala pa naman huli.

Sa Ace hardware ko dati binili. PHP 1,500.00 ang 1 pair.

This is exactly the same reasoning I used a couple of years ago with the Branch Manager of Honda Cars Alabang.

If I remember correctly, 'twas already two weeks after I brought the car home and I still didn't have the car plate (number). "I didn't buy the car as another decor in our garage. I bought it to drive and bring me to places where I want to be. I know it's a good car, but I never intended it to be another paper weight...." After that discussion, I was receiving telephone calls at least 4-5 times a day and got the car plate (with my specified last number) after 3-4 days... Talaga raw pahirapan....

Question lang po Tsikoteers... Bakit pag special plates ang nirerequest ninyo parang walang resibong binibigay? The last request from LTO I made was a sandwich number 909 at ang sabi nila its 2500 ba or 2800petot more after paying the 3 year registration!

Grabe I didn't even think na ganun ka-special pala ang number yun! Sabi ng LTO ang tawag daw doon sa number na yoon ay "PEKWA" (Ngek!). In short "lucky nine" daw! Susmarosep! And to think that I didn't get any OR from that! Ganun ba talaga?

actually when i saw an interview with the LTO head a year ago, may nagtanong nga kung bakit mahal if pumili ka ng ending number, sabi niya wala naman bayad yun kaya lang daw mag aantay ka kung kelan gawin ung number na gusto mo, wala daw bayad yun . . ..

so ung bayad na dagdag is actually to speed the production of plate, errrr, speed up the transaction under the table

    so no receipts

everyday ako dumadaan ng Nlex from Pasig going to my work in bulacan, i have seen many new cars without plate num travelling also in nlex. Hindi naman mahigpit ang tollways securities pagdating sa plate number. You can drive your car in Nlex pero ingat ka lang if your taking EDSA sa may bandang munoz madaming buwaya dun, find alternative route papuntang nlex.

I'm hoping to get my new car by Holy Week and intend to drive it to Batangas (overnight) and then to Subic (overnight as well). Will I have any problems plying the street in a brand new car with no plate?
