Oo nga mga private vehicles lang ang tatamaan niyan.Sana naman isama na pati mga PU.Dagdag na rin nila mga hindi nagbubukas ng headlight at mga walang tail light.

Yeah, Road repair and maintenance should not be overlooked. Isn't that what the Road User's Tax is for? Or is it just for the construction of signages stating that "These are your Taxes at work"?

As to the old vehicles being prohibited from renewing their registration after a certain number of years, I am partly for this. There comes a time that a vehicle needs to be retired. Older cars are, in general, less roadworthy than their newer counterparts, assuming that they all undergo the same use, abuse and maintenance. But then that is not a sweeping statement for all older cars. All cars must be checked for roadworthiness. Newer cars included. The older ones must maintain a certain level of roadworthiness to be allowed re-registration. The newer ones, must pass through the same strict standards. This way, even if your car is 2 or 20 years old, it's safe to be on the road. Classic Car clubs have a right to be in arms if they're refused registration. Their cars, however, should be roadworthy for registration to be allowed.

PUVs should definitely be included in this. They have to abide by a certain level of roadworthiness to be driven on public streets without endangering the lives of those riding them, or those on the street with them. There are a lot of accidents involving PUVs whose brakes or steering have failed resulting in injuries if not deaths. Whether mayaman o mahirap, nasusugatan o namamatay pa rin, kaya hindi tama ang reasoning na "mahirap lang kami kaya ganyan ang kondisyon ng jeep namin". Delikado naman sa iba pang tao.
