Well, looks like private motorists will have to pay quite a bit just to have their vehicles scrutineered at Private Motor Vehicle Inspection Centers (PMVICs).

The damage? Owners will pay PhP 1800 to have their vehicles (GVW 4500 kilograms and below) checked for roadworthiness at PMVICS.

    takeaways:

it's not mentioned but it seems that PUVs aren't required to undergo the same vetting process.

also, i see no timetable when this "program" will take effect.

as long as the testing centers are capable to do a thorough inspection... The fee is ok.

A car will not fix itself, owners do. Sana lahat tayo maging responsible car/motor vehicle owners. At kaya nga nandito ang LTO to regulate, tsk tsk tsk.

LTO officials, you can do better than this!

Meanwhile, CCTVs must cover the entire process of the testing with one camera capturing the number plate of the vehicle in testing. The PMVIC must also be fully automated and capable of being interconnected with the LTO IT system, with all test results recorded and uploaded automatically. Manual encoding and editing of results are prohibited.
