Driver's License Renewal [Merged]

Just renewed my license at the Ayala-MRT station. The process time was 1 hour, with about 30 applicants at that time (1:30 to 2:30 PM).

FWIW, I had my US DL renewed online. Paid the fee, entered the renewal pin code, and submitted the form. Was even surprised that the notice came in the mail two months prior to the expiration date!

Less than a week after paying it all online, the new card arrived. Total time? 5 mins online. Cost? $27.

Just got my license renewed at the Ayala MRT station. It was a heavy day, being a Monday and all, so it took me about 45 minutes (30 minutes before lunch to fill out the necessary form, take a p!ss and their eye test of a medical exam; and 15 minutes after lunch to get my pic taken and to issue the license). Ok na nga yun, considering it took me an hour just to buy an appliance at SM Appliance Center. (OT, gee whiz! 30 minutes just to get an installment/deferred invoice prepared! And that was even without the usual SM horde. tsk tsk! there was more red tape in SM than in the LTO-DLRC.)

Bakit nga ba medical ang tawag nila eh eye test lang naman? Kung medical naman talaga, I don't see the point unless they have an x-ray man lang (for highly contagious TB) and ECG (in case atakehin yung driver habang nasa road).

Alam mo naman sa atin, you call it that to have enough reason to pay a higher fee for a simple eye test. I mean, a drug test - isn't really necessary, but they required it before (do they still do now?) and it's quite a hassle too if you need to go to some other place to have it done.

Pede ba ko magrenew ng license sa mall branches ng LTO dito sa metro manila kung sa Bicol inissue ang license ko? Tsaka mga ilang days before/after expiry ba dapat magparenew? salamat sa mga magrereply

that should be possible because it's a computerized system already ... i maybe wrong lets just wait for somebody who has a better knowledge or first hand experience ....

kakarenew ko lang din ng license last week. take note lang ha? BIR-TIN number is now required. pag wala kang dalang TIN, pupunta ka pa sa nearest BIR office.

para saan dan yung BIR-TIN? wala nga akong ganon eh ....
