AFAIK that cap applies to IMVs only. I don't think the sedans or the higher-up-there SUVs have that limit. Camry's are known to hit 220 easy and the 1.8 and 2.0 Altis can do 200 quite easily too (not sure about the 1.6). The Vios has got enough power for its light chassis so it's possible. But I bet it'd be dangerously light to steer at that speed.

January 11th, 2010 10:31 AM #162Yup, the "higher-up-there" cars could do more. But the rest of us probably won't. BTW, Dad's top speed on a 1.6 Altis J was just 185km/h with 4 fat passengers plus a couple of bags on board. And he was being a bit conservative
.
Yeah, the Vios probably could do more than 190km/h, but only on perfect conditions like drafting a faster car. And given the acceleration of the Vios (even slower than mine, proven about 5 times with 3rd gear start at 110), it would take a clear, flat stretch longer than the Tabang spur to reach just 190km/h (I could only make 185, with a Vios 1.5 trailing me), and about twice that length to reach 200 if the engine permits.
Testing cars is a lot of fun!

January 12th, 2010 02:18 AM #165150kph in a 2008 Toyota Vios 1.5L... it happened when I was trying to follow a fast Nissan ECCS after the toll booth in NLEX. For a car in the early/mid 90s even though it's has bigger displacement than mine (1.6) it's really fast can't catch him. hehe.
