February 10th, 2014 11:18 PM #132to TS

How about producing an official letter / memo from Toyota on how they are requiring people to come in with their vehicles for 5,000 kms PMS?
I'm not a Toyota fan boy. Heck, our latest purchase last November was a Honda and a few months before that was a grey market Hyundai and we just follow whatever it is they require to keep the vehicle in warranty. We understand that different brands require different maintenance regimens so we just follow whatever the brand requires so we could have a worry-free vehicle as long as possible and save on repair bills should we need to invoke the warranty.
I mean seriously, I can't believe how the TS made a mountain out of a molehill. Now if the TS wants to cut costs on maintenance, then that's up to him but I don't see the point of calling people here names just because they do not agree on an opinion. Who made the TS an authority on the matter of PMS?Last edited by K.I.L.L.; February 10th, 2014 at 11:24 PM.

February 11th, 2014 12:49 AM #136people,
what happened to the reading comprehension skills?
toyota doesn't let you go 10,000 on non-FS dino juice. while honda does. this is the whole point of this thread conveniently summarized in this one paragraph.
i don't care about FS oil okay. clear now? no wonder yota is letting you go 10k on FS coz it costs heck of a lot more
FWIW, again FWIW! (DO NOT READ TOO MUCH INTO THIS PARAGRAPH). here's my jazz's L13A engine with 9 years and 130,000 kms on it. DINO JUICE since day1, i repeat DINOJUICE NON-FS! 10,000 or 6-months intervals. still runs like a champ. DOES NOT BURN OIL, the level on the dipstick doesn't move at all over the 6-month cycle.
and my previous corolla i also did the 10,000 / 6-months using DINO JUICE until i sold it when it was 10yo. still rolling to this day. apparently my PMS habits did not destroy it prematurely
so contrary to popular belief a car doesn't spontaneously explode when you run it 10,000/6mo between oil changes. yes folks it's called "oil change" not "change oil" LOL

February 11th, 2014 01:47 AM #137Kahit sa honda nambobola din. Sa honda spa sinabihan ako na 10,000 kms or every 6months fully synthetic. Pero if i use mineral oil every 3months or 3,000kms.

February 11th, 2014 03:39 AM #138If I may share my point on the topic, I recently bought a van from Hancars and their PMS is pegged at 5k for the next 5 years or so. Judging on the quotation of the package per 5k PMS it would more or less cost me PHP5,600 thereabouts per visit. Naturally this would dent my wallet but looking at the local conditions of our traffic and road maintenance I just psyched myself to look at it as a 1+ PESO/kilometer preventive expense. A stick of cigarette may be more expensive than the oil I will spend per/km on a vehicle that plays so much role in our lives. Heck even a can of soda is more expensive than that and it can kill you overtime and yet some or most of us couldn't get by w/o them. It doesn't matter if it's a HONDA or TOYOTA or any other brand, it's how you value your prized car and how much you are willing to spend on it just to get the most out of its service life.

February 11th, 2014 05:08 AM #139you conveniently ignore some of the points raised here like the sheer volume of toyota cars on the road compared to your beloved honda.
Yes, they profit from it but I would rather think its a preventive move by them for possible warranty claims on breakdowns.
Like they may even have adopted his policy based on a decision related to their previous sludging issues. Prevention>cure.
anyways, I'm still confused on what you are trying to say.
That Honda is gracious enough to let you use mineral/regular/dino oil even with 10k pms intervals?
Well good for them, siguro naman mas kaya nilang pumayag na lang dito kaysa may ma-turnoff pang potential buyer.
