February 10th, 2014 08:47 AM #101I prefer using mineral oil and changing it every 5000 Km
At least labas yung dumi in a short interval.
Aabutin mo ng 10,000 km. Dumi = dumi kahit synthetic ang gagamitin mo.
Synthetic is better if you tow, race and drive to the limits.
For normal driving conditions in the city, ok na multigrade mineral
Palitan mo plus check up vehicle in casa.
We all know that mineral oil last 5000kms. No need to extend its life.
Sa Hyundai dito sa Amin. Kailangan synthetic talaga sa casa oil change. Can't argue or your warranty be void.

February 10th, 2014 09:01 AM #102hey.. i am not siding with any of those companies.. you just have to be broad minded.. for me i don't see it as money-making because that is what i want and that is what i believe would do good for my car.. and I understand that the basis for that in general is for the warranty of the car to be intact.. i guess when you negotiated and bought your car before the dealership explained to you all their policies.. if you don't understand that then you have a problem..

February 10th, 2014 09:37 AM #104To answer the TS,
NO, toyota is not forcing me to have oil change every 5,000 kms. I do however, keep a 5K/6 Mo. OCI, since i want a 2x a year check-up/oil change to ensure that the car is in its best running condition.
I am sure they have done studies why they recommend the 5k rule. But honestly, have you asked TOYOTA for their basis? or at least inquired with real experts if the 5k rule is actually reasonable?
Mas malala pa nga hyundai eh, why are you not ranting about hyundai?

umm toyota fanboy? wait for my hyundai PMS rant thread
honda's is 10,000 / 6-months. so yes it's 2x a year
of course i've asked toyota for their basis! they just said "ganun talaga" dahil "severe" daw ang pilipinas. LOL
again the BASIS SHOULD BE the manuals with the PMS intervals determined by the car maker itself who actually designed the car i.e. the "real experts". and of course they have taken into account the local weather, as well as the long-term reliability of their product which of course WILL AFFECT their brand image. so yes they have studied this very well!

February 10th, 2014 10:34 AM #107Have you really ASKED Toyota? that answer you have given is made by someone who does not know what he is talking about.
The manual that you are talking about is a standard manual given globally.
Each country has different conditions so what is written in the manual may not be applicable to the destination country. The decision is left actually to the local subsidiary to determine what is most applicable to the location.
If you are really concerned about this, ask your question to TMP directly and not some low level CASA employee.
And please stop with name calling.

February 10th, 2014 12:52 PM #108The first time I see this thread, I immediately had the impression that it was intended to stir a hornet's nest.
Obviously, non-toyota ang gusto ng threadstarter. I'd say go buy whatever brand it is and enjoy it. No need to bash the brand or look low on people who doesn't share the same interest as you. People who follow maintenance regimen as stated by the manufacturer isn't falling blind. They are just responsible car owners that put safety first before anything else.
