January 29th, 2014 09:14 PM #513Good day sir! 2001 GLX diesel owner here. So far I've never experienced hard shifting, kumakagat lagi kaagad upon the getgo. What's the mileage of your car? Try changing the gear oil and check your clutch. As for the cranking sound when shifting to reverse, that is pretty normal. I've heard that sound from many other Revo's including ours. From personal experience, the cranking sound will diminish if the clutch is fully depressed.

2500rpm=60-70kph
2750rpm=70-80kph
3000rpm=80-90kph
3250rpm=90-100kph

January 30th, 2014 02:18 PM #515A few questions:
1. Does the clutch pedal feel normal or spongy or stiff siya or low on the floor?
2. Kapag matagal lang na biyahe saka lang mahirap mag-shift to 1st and Reverse gear from stationary position, pero madali mag-shift up to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th gear when in motion?
3. Kapag pinatay mo makina at lumamig na, tapos paandarin mo ulit, madali lang mag-shift to 1st and Reverse gear early on pero mahirap ulit after some time like after 1 hour of driving?
Kung symptom mo ay number 1, baka sa may clutch linkage lang, easier to remedy, check clutch fluid if leaking or low, etc.
Iyong symptom 2 and 3, na-experience ko na sa 2002 Revo SR namin nung 8yrs old/80k mileage na siya. Clutch disc was worn. I had the clutch disc replaced, flywheel resurfaced, etc. Other possible causes for those symptoms ay issue with the pressure plate, worn clutch release bearing, etc, basta within the clutch assembly na mismo.
You can try the following check:
If your transmission cannot be put into gear when the car is running but you can change gears with the engine off, the problem could be with your pressure plate or clutch disk. Your clutch disk should be checked every 15,000 miles (or less if you engage in stop and go, city driving). There is no way to determine if your pressure plate or clutch disk are bad without dismantling the bell housing of the transmission. If you suspect either are worn, it's probably best to replace them.

Still better to have a mechanic check it if it's just as simple as clutch linkage, fluid level/bleeding, master/slave cylinder issue. But if it's the actual clutch, it may be best to replace. If you have a worn clutch disc or something else gives inside the clutch assembly, it could cause more damage and higher repair/replace costs.

January 30th, 2014 07:08 PM #518Since 2nd hand, at kapag walang service records, it would be best to change everything just to be safe. If I remember correctly, my clutch was replaced at around 80tkms (106tkms na ngayon). More or less hanggang ganon ang service life ng isang clutch disc. Have your trusted mechanic check out the car. Kita kaagad kung ano ang problema. Nakakatakot yan kapag biglang ayaw pumasok sa gear.
