February 16th, 2010 07:57 PM #215Interesting information from this news cast from the states suggest that the problem is not the floormats or the accelerator pedals but it could be the car's ECU since its the only thing that controls the throttle...
They also pointed out that incidents related to sudden acceleration increased dramatically when Toyota started using electronic throttles on their cars, for 2002- later models...

My sister in law drive as fast as 90mph average from Port Charlotte to Jax.
Noong nasa Sydney ako papuntang Blue Mountain, di pwede mabagal doon, we drive 120~150kph kaya palaging may disgrasya sa highway na yon.
Taga saan ang pinsan mo? baka nasa city proper ng NY.
Seriously, average speed from NY to DC is 43mph according sa law nila.
But mostly or about 30 states mayroon speed limit na 70 mph or higher.
Few states walang speed limits on certain stretches of highway.
No-google ko lang...
Anyway both High Speed and Slow Driving could kill you kung oras mo na....heheheLast edited by xda2jojo; February 16th, 2010 at 08:23 PM.

The interferance with the ECU is not a problem only with Toyota but every other car company that uses drive by wire throttle control... Something only magnified by the number of Toyotas on the streets.
The government has renewed an investigation into potential electromagnetic problems in vehicles built by Toyota and other manufacturers. Consumer groups have pointed to potential electrical problems while the company has said recalls to fix sticking gas pedals or accelerators that can become jammed will address the problem.

Toyota announced via its media website that it has launched a new investigation into claims that its electronic throttle control system is the root cause of numerous unintended acceleration complaints that led to two recalls covering more than 6 million vehicles.
Toyota has hired an outside engineering firm in California named Exponent, which has already completed early evaluations of a number of vehicles equipped with this system.
“The interim report, dated February 4, 2010, notes that Exponent was unable to induce unintended acceleration in any of the ETCS-i equipped Toyota and Lexus vehicles it tested. In all cases, the vehicle either behaved normally or entered a fail-safe mode where engine power was significantly reduced or shut off,” Toyota said in the statement.
Toyota calls that test the “first phase” but does not expand on what else will be involved and for how long, despite calling the move a “commitment to increased transparency.”
We’ll update you when we hear more conclusive results. We also think it would make some sense for Toyota to ask the government to take part in these tests as an impartial observer, since the Japanese company is funding them.

February 16th, 2010 08:34 PM #219They are at Chicago the windy city.... When I visited there back in '05 yung takbo ng traffic sa states is consistent. Kahit mabilis ang speed ng traffic all the cars run at the same speed(ex. 65mph). I never saw too much over-taking at ang peaceful ng takbo ang lawak kc ng highway nila at most 8 lanes kasali shoulder....
Dun ko rin narealize why americans like big gasoline fed v8 cars, they know its important to keep the pace in the highway unlike here sa pinas ok lang tumakbo highway ng 60kph and holding up a lot of people...
Thats why "tulin" is percieved talaga compared dito where traffic is hectic, violent at maraming mabagal na kotse sa highway na kailangan overtake palagi (jeepneys, 10 wheelers and the occasional jallopy)...
