The last thing I need right now is mockery.
That information is known to everybody by now and it is subject to debate and argument as some are speculating that it could be a design problem, and if it is, then it's not a question of who supplies it.
What I want to hear is the opinion and testament of people from this forum.
We should respect each other at this forum as I value the opinion of people at tsikot.com in high regard. I hope you don't take this in a bad light.
A car purchase for me is not like I am buying a light bulb. I need all the information I could gather in coming up with a decision on which car to buy.Last edited by _Cathy_; February 14th, 2010 at 06:33 PM.

Best place to ask about the 2010 Altis are from the owners themselves.

chill!
Ma'am, here's a thorough, technical discussion regarding the said accelerator pedal:
http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/tta...is-commentary/
they tore down the CTS and Denso pedals, and concluded that the denso used in the local units are superior to the CTS pedal..
I hope the link helps.

Hi Cathy,
I'm an Altis 10th Gen owner. My car is and automatic transmission and so far wala pa naman problem sa acceleration pedel. Maybe because 1yr old palang yung car. Problems like this takes time to occur and when they occur intermittent yung problem (may occasion na maiipit may occasion na ok). The owners most likely to be at risk are the first batch of 10th gen altis owners.
Problem kasi sa toyota satin is mahirap magclaim ng warranty or compensation. Right now sinasabi nila na hindi affected ang denso and theoretically they are right kasi there is no supporting documents to prove that the denso pedal has a problem. So right now if you buy an altis considered as goods sold in good condition siya. Lets say maipit yung pedal, and you happen to hit another car... who will compensate for you?... tpos when to take it to the casa tinest nila ok naman yung pedal... how are you going to prove this to them kung yung problem ay intermittent?....
I would be best for you to look to another brand instead to save you from all this trouble. This is seriously a potential risk to the safety of the family and our fellow Toyota owners.
The big question is hinitayin pa ba natin na may maaksidente bago maconfirm na may problema din yung Denso?
Bottom line... it not really a good time to buy a Toyota at the moment. Yung rattling sound nga lang hindi nila pinansin wala pang 2.0v noon... ngayon may 2.0v na may rattling sound pa din.

If I have the money to buy one, I'd veer away from any Toyota vehicles for the meantime. OC kasi ako and I don't want the recall problems to be bugging me. Hehehe.
Hyundai parang wala pako naririnig na major problems. Even their crdi engines okay eh.

Funny... it takes me forever to buy light bulbs...
...so many things to consider... (true story... my wife hates shopping with me...)
(Easy lang, Boss Cathy... ;) )
Seriously, though, if it bothers you so much, you should shop around. There are good deals to be had everywhere. I'd personally just go for a Vios/Yaris, if you're worried about it... the steering is much better than the Corolla's, and there are no Yaris vehicles included in the brake recall.
Not to say there are no Yaris recalls on record, though. There was a safety belt recall last year.
But all cars have issues. There are no local recalls for the Lynx, but if you look online, the list of technical service bulletins (which means there's something defective that should be fixed on customer cars, but it's not an immediate safety recall item) for the US version of the car is paaaages long.
No car is truly problem free. But if the Toyota issue is bugging you so much, from a safety point of view, then you should take your money elsewhere rather than worrying and second-guessing yourself after the purchase.Last edited by niky; February 15th, 2010 at 09:38 AM.

Actually, we might never know. We shall wait and see.
One argument states that it might be Toyota's design problem. Yari tayo niyan pagka ganito. Although may nabasa naman ako na possibly nagbigay lang ng gas pedal specifications ang Toyota at minodify na lang ng CTS (contractor nila ng gas pedals sa States) yung eixsting design nila para ma-achieve yung specs na iyon.
In terms of design, radically different yung gas pedals ng models nila sa States compared dito sa atin (made by Denso), so pwedeng hindi talaga tayo affected. Although we shall again wait and see kung ano pang developments nitong issue na 'to.

Wait and see maybe waiting when the next model to come out in 4 years or seeing if there will be an actual accident caused by the denso pedal, which may never come. Just skip the brand entirely if you have any doubts.
