February 14th, 2010 01:50 AM #181[quote=frenchtower;1409527]I found this from www.toyotanation.com . Apparently, Toyota have released today, Jan. 28, 2010, yet another recall notice to expand the line of vehicles affected by the sticky pedal problem. Here's the link:

Naparaming recalls na ginagawa ng iba't ibang car manufacturers.
Pero ang pinaka mahalaga and should be a source of concern are those which Toyota rightly apologized for (kasi nga buhay nakataya not just "money").
Some recalls are made to correct faulty parts and then these recalled parts (like airbags and power window switches in Honda) are replaced.
Design defects however, you just cannot replace them. So....sorry na lang.

Does that mean I should forget about buying an Altis? Looks like it's a design problem?

^ I think it's better off that way.
If you'll buy an Altis right now with news going all around saying that the gas pedal may stuck someday etc. etc. It will just bug you, and will make you doubtful about your vehicle.

There is nothing wrong with the local Altis according to Toyota. The US-made part in question is not found in the local Altis. Unless someone here who actually owned one says so, take the advise of the naysayer with a ton of salt. Don't let yourself be fooled by the mass hysteria with no facts.

Since 1974 I have used Mitsubishi Dodge Colt, then Gallant, then L300, then Lancer, Gallant V6, Hyundai Starex, all of them are good except the suspension that easily give way. But they are very reliable. While in US I were able to drive a GM Trailblazer. Its nice and so I bought a second hand GM Venture. Its nice too, except for the price of parts and the dealer. If a parts is priced at 800 pesos in the US, price here is 8,000.
How can that happen? There are only 3 or 4 parts dealer in Recto selling GM parts. What is worst, the dealer has the same attitude for the labor cost. They also has the attitude of replacing everything in sight. I bought it at 700 thousand probably spend some 200 thousand for repair, some 20 thousand for towing, then I surrender and sold it for 180 thousand just to get rid of it. I feel like I am abused. GM should have propected their customer from vultures.
Now I bought a 2009 Altis that pulsate when at 1st gear and diminishes at 2nd . And the dealer sys it has no problem.Last edited by MMP; February 14th, 2010 at 04:23 PM. Reason: just want to add
