Tuned more for fuel efficiency. I'm sure there's room to tune it for more power if they needed to make a more powerful sporty version.

Nothing to do with horsepower. The early 1.0-liter EcoBoost engines built between Ocotber 2011 and October 2013 had an issue with nylon coolant pipes that could fail in high temp, this seems to have been resolved in newer units. This engine is used in the Puma, Ford UK's best selling model.

Technically Daihatsu/ Toyota could probably easily squeeze extra power from the 1KR-VET engine if they wanted to. NA economy car engines can make more hp/L than this, they're far from the limit. Of course higher power could also make it less fuel efficient.

The current EcoSport Titaniun EcoBoost sold here still uses it.

Many current small European Fords like the current Fiesta, EcoSport, Focus, and Puma (best selling Ford in the UK in 2021) still use the 1.0 EcoBoost.

The issue was isolated to build dates between October 2011 and October 2013. Build dates before the first 1.0 EcoBoost was offered here.

im just guessing here pero looking beyond the power figure baka naman the 140nm torque figure is decent and available pretty early on combined with light weight and short final drive? most driving naman is done low in the rev range.

Never had issues with the Ford 1.0L Ecoboost engine when I had it for over 4 years. You can go flat out on it or just ease on the pedal. On the highway, it can do like 15 km/L even when you are averaging between 100 to 120 kmh. Cruise at a lower speed and it can do 20 km/L.

I think the dagger that killed the local Fiesta is the problematic DCT. The Focus and Ecosport DCT models were also taken out.

Naah, I always give my rides a check on how well it behaves itself at its limits. 140Nm is decent enough for a small vehicle like the Vios or City. No contest though to the 170Nm of Ford’s 1.0L Ecoboost from 1800 to 4500 rpm. Overboost gives it a bit more pull (200Nm) beyond 4500 rpm for a short period of time.

On paper, almost similar to the output of the 1.3L Vios, but the Raize's max Torque starts at 2,400 rpm.
