[SIZE=2]Toyota is number one again in 2004

Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) is the number-one automotive manufacturer and retailer in 2004 based on the final sales figures last year released by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI).

Toyota topped all categories in the market—passenger car, commercial vehicle and total sales, to achieve its self-described Triple Crown for the third year in a row. Toyota also captured 33 percent of the total market, registering its highest market share in 14 years.

Despite external factors and events which affected the market, Toyota managed to further strengthen its performance by registering total sales of 29,198, reflecting an increase of 5 percent from its performance in the previous year.

Toyota’s passenger car sales grew by 35 percent in 2004 with the strong demand for the Vios, Altis and Camry, which outsold their nearest competitors despite new model introductions and heavy discounting offered by other car companies. Sales of Toyota’s passenger cars reached a total of 15,159 units and dominated 46 percent of the market.

Toyota also continued to lord over the commercial vehicle segment with a year-end total of 14,039 unit-sales and a market share of almost 24 percent. The Revo continues to be the best-selling vehicle model in the country by selling a total of 9,413 units.

To date, more than 75,000 Revos have been produced and plying the roads of the country since its arrival in 1998.

Toyota’s new Hilux is the best-selling pickup in its first month of sales in the country last December, with sales of 253 units and almost 37-percent segment share. The strong showing of the Hilux indicates Toyota’s bid to achieve the top position in the pickup segment for 2005.

It will not be long before Toyota overtakes Ford for the #2 automaker in the world. Ford has been having problems with their cruise control on their cars which seems to be going up in flames. Dami pa namang bagong 2005 models ang Ford. Yung problema nila dati sa pag-taob nung mga SUV nila (tire-related daw), fresh pa sa mga tao dito.

Nissan is also doing a remarkable job coming back. What from being in the brink of bankruptcy to overtaking Honda as Japan's #2 automaker.

    Kudos to Nissan and Toyota!!!

TOYOTA is Number 1 again in 2004!!
