Nagresearch ako, Hiace's have insanely high resale values. Kapag 1997 naglalaro ang resale sa 300+k. Takot lang ako baka money pit na yang unit mo. Tamo magkano na yung ginastos mo, at gagastos ka pa. Kung ako, I would've gotten rid of it a long time ago. Baka kasi paisa-isa yan eh. You change this then another part breaks down... If you change the whole engine, you don't know how that engine was used, how many kilometers it has clocked and it'll be expensive and we're not even talking labor yet. My advice is that you restore it to running condition and get rid of it immediately. Kahit magkaloss ka ng konti, its better than nothing.

Yes, there are many vans available 2nd hand naman. Since you mentioned na kaya mo pa yung bnew na Adventure ibigsabihin nasa mga 700+k yung budget mo? Maganda na ang 2nd hand na mabibili mo diyan. You can get a newer Hiace (kung di ka pa nagsawa ), a Starex GRX CRDi (Jumbo variant if you want to seat more people) or a Kia Pregio.

Actually marami kang choices with a 700k budget. Toyota Hiace (pasok na yung Grandia), Hyundai Starex, Nissan Urvan, Kia Pregio, MB100

Ah yes, almost forgot the Urvan Estate. Very nice van indeed. They say its performance matches that of the Hiace D4D. I'd stay away from the Urvan Escapade and the MB100. The Urvan Escapade is just too old, it shouts 1980s design both inside and out. The MB100 is VERY noisy, its so noisy it'd put trucks to shame. And take note that it is just a rebadged Ssangyong, so its essentially just a rebadged Korean van. Might as well get the Starex.

Yup, off-the-line it will match the d4d but once speed picks-up, it'll start getting left behind. The Estate has more low end oomph due to it's larger displacement but once the D4d kicks in with its turbo, the Hiace will start getting ahead.

Meron narin naman mga Urvan Estate na 2nd hand at hindi siya mahal. The engine is great since low maintenance siya and has adequate power, with potential for even more should you opt to modify it since EFI narin siya if I'm not mistaken. Early models (mga 2002, 2003) nasa mga 500+k to 600+k nalang. But then again, you can get a Starex GRX also with that amount of money.
