It would be interesting to know if the other countries where D4D owners are having problems have more stringent standards for diesel fuel than the Philippines. If these countries have cleaner diesel and the D4D engines still act up in spite of it, then that would really be a problem for Toyota.

I myself have been to indonesia and all I can see are Innova with VVTi engine only.
I was told that it's Innova country kasi sobrang dami ang Innova sa indonesia.

In Singapore, they only sell the 2.7 VVTI Fortuner, since AFAIK, D4D engine did not pass their very stringent vehicular emissions standards. Given the prevailing D4D engine problems, I guess this could be a blessing in disguise for them.

pa'no ba 'yan, mag D4D owners...mukhang naging test bed tayo ng Toyota. It doesn't sound good....

so far wala naman problema on our unit, test bed or not we are very satisfied with our innova, its the only auv/mpv worth 1M, kesa naman Sportivo/Adventure na panahon pa ng kopong. no offense to owners.

[QUOTE=jagxtrm]guys, my brother gave me his advice... he has a innova d4d G m/t using petron diesel max (without biodiesel or any additives)...
before u stop the engine (by turning off the ignition), u MUST let the engine idle for at least 1 minute (off ang aircon para walang load) para daw mag slow down yng turbine ng turbo...
ang reason daw is to 'release' yng na-build up na pressure sa intake after running the engine at 1,800 rpm or more. also it will prevent early breakdown ng pipes due to 'unreleased' pressure. i think D4D turbo can generate up to 10 to 12 psi of pressure sa intake after running 80 kph or more.

Actually this is true as per the Owners Manual. It is highly advised to let your engine run for 1min before turning it off specially after hiway driving. So far I have no problems with my D4D Fortuner. Starting in the morning 1 click lang but need to warm up. I experience slight knocking for first 200-300 meters. I tried Petron and Shell. My mileage seems higher using Shell diesel although napansin ko na medyo matapang ang exhaust sa Shell (ave 8.7kpl). Sa presyo ng diesel ngayon, I stuck with Shell.
+1 on the Amaron. Yeah, just make sure it will fit and can be held in place securely due to...
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
