Mga sir me balak po ako bilhin na gli 94 at kaso newly overhauled at fade na paint e ano po ba dapat ko check para malaman kung me tama pa ang engine? Lo budget lang po kasi kaya pinag iisipan ko pa po. Tnx

Ano namang 'AE' yung 1998 Corolla XL 1.6?

Walang XL na 1.6.

Yung Corolla na binenta from 1997-2001 (pero nag-extend til 2005 for the XL) ay AE111. Ganito itsura:



XL - 1.3L 2E engine (72 HP, carbureted), manual windows/door locks/steering, steel rims, black bumpers/side mirrors/door handles
XE - 1.3L 2E engine, manual windows/door locks, power steering, alloy rims, body-colored bumpers/door handles
1.6 GLi - 1.6L 4A-FE engine (110 HP, EFI), power everything, airbags, ABS/EBD
1.8 SE.G Altis - 1.8L 7A-FE engine (120 HP, EFI), all the features of the GLi + leather seats, 6 speakers

Last Friday pag start ko nung umaga palyado yung makina nung 1995 corolla xe 2e, So check ko yung spark plug maitim na so pinalitan ko pati yung air filter.
Kaso hindi pa rin tumino yung takbo, ano kaya yung problema? High tension wires ba or yung distributor assembly?

may magagawa ba sa 1.6L '94 corolla to make it more fuel efficient? i want to have our '94 corolla fixed up instead of buying a brand new car. Fix up the engine setup, under chassis, etc etc.

Pa compression test mo muna sir,
If pasado pa....
- tune up
- change oil, use lighter oil, kahit 15w40, instead of 20w50
- change air and fuel filter
- pa check/adjust mo na ang wheel alignment and camber
- palinis throttle body
- linis ng auto, mga kalat sa trunk adds weight,
- pa adjust mo sa tamang timing

Yan, definitely aayos fc mo nyan.

But if kahit may isang bagsak sa kanilang apat..

Your choice if pa-top/general overhaul mo engine mo or,
As stated, engine swap.

Exact FC maybe something like 6-8km/l city driving. We spend around 4k-6k on gas per month.
I want to bring the performance of the car up, unfortunately wala ako masyado alam pagdating sa kotse. So far i've searched for under chassis specialists and also considering speedlab pero no clue what i should even be considering.
Meron din problem yung engine or assembly (or whatever it's called) kasi pag rev then nag release ka ng clutch (even slowly) the car goes into a violent convulsion (haha violent talaga)

Also, meron bang recommended shops in terms of quality of work and trustworthiness? I've been looking pero having a hard time looking for feedback. Halos bagong kotse na kasi ngayon. I don't think I can deal with too many shops for the multiple things that may need fixing.

6-8km/l is pretty decent for a 4afe engine in city driving,
So i assume okei pa ang condition ng engine mo.

Regular maintenance lang, good na yan.
