    either the key is worn out, or the keyhole pins are worn out.
    although both can be remedied, i'd start with the key, as it is cheaper. ask the key duplicating man to make you a new key. ask him not to follow the old key too faithfully, para medyo mas mataas ang mga ipin ng bagong susi. see if that helps you manipulate the keyhole.
    Nahugot na un susi sa ignition. Taga banawe lang din daw un gumawa. Nag outsource un shop na pinagawan ko. Worn out na un duplicate key. Iba na un color nya nalilinaw na compared sa original. The blades of two keys are alike. Mas manipis lang ng konti un duplicate key. Suggest ng shop kahit wag na muna papalitan ng ignition coil. Wag ko nalang daw gamitin un spare key. Magpapagawa pa ako ng duplicate pero dun nalang din daw sa nagbaklas ng susi. Usually 1 day lang naman ang pag gawa ng duplicate?

    I have another problem sa altis. Because I changed my tire the other day, hindi nagawa un alignment kasi kinulang sa oras (dahil din sa susi na nastuck sa ignition). So ngayon nagpawheel alignment ako sa shell commonwealth (tapat ng diliman preparatory school). Guess what? Hindi pantay un manibela ko. Nakatabingi pag straight. Pag nilalagay ko sa gitna, kumakabig pakaliwa. Bago ko dalhin un altis sa shell, pantay un manibela. Ibabalik ko nalang sa ibang araw kasi inabot na kami ng closing. Naka 3 balik ako dahil hindi nila mapantay un manibela. The senior mechanic even suggested na pagpalitin un gulong sa harap (interchange). Pero ganun parin ang result. Meron sila 15 days warranty. Ibabalik ko nakang sa free time ko.

    Lahat ng pinapagawa ko sa altis ko laging may problema. Nakakapagod na ayusin ang altis ko kung sa bawat pagawa ko may kapalit na sira.

    Ang wala lang palang sira un pag palit ko ng brake pads. Hehe

    Next na ipapagawa ko is rack and pinion and front shocks. Common daw sa altis ang masira ang rack and pinion?

    my 2003 altis's rack and pinion came with the car, from the factory, 14 years ago.
    so i suppose, nasa gumagamit nyan.

    a problem may arise if the manibela was pulled off in the past, and re-inserted in the wrong position.
    perhaps if you bring the car to the expert aligners, they will do a better job.

    if one or both front wheels are out of round ("oblong"), no amount of alignment will result in a kabig-less ride, forward or rearward.

    Sa buy and sell ko kasi nabili un altis. Wala din record ng maintainance. Kaya no idea ako paano inalagaan ang altis. Tingin ko hindi lang talaga ganun kagaling un sa shell. Hassle lang para sa 400 tumabingi pa un manibela. And additional, merun tumutunog sa right side pag nalulubak. Parang may loose na nuts. Dati wala un at pantay un manibela ko bago ko dinala sa shell. Nagpalit pa ako ng gulong bago ako pumunta sa shell at pantay parin manibela.

    No idea ako kung ano nangyari sa rack and pinion. Nag suggest un friend ko dalhin ko sa good year along araneta ave to fix the issue. Ipapaayos ko muna sa shell since dahil sa kanila nagkaproblem un altis ko.

    Any idea san shop ok magpacheck ng rack and pinion? Or magagawa ba un ng baklas tapos kabit ulit? Just to see if sira talaga un rack and pinion.

    buying used, is always a gamble. even the best have been deceived..
    rack and pinion stuff is de-cajon, po. so is underchassis. toyotah pah! relatively straightforward and logical troubleshooting. but there are always good mechanics and bad mechanics, honest and otherwise. i used to have mine inspected at the auto parts stores in pedro gil. sorry, sarado na yung hilera.
    offhand, i'd recommend banawe. look for an underchassis shop with its own decent parking/service space. and because parts availability is always an issue when having repairs, it pays to have "many sources (katabing stores)". the altis is such a popular car, if they can not source the part, it's probably not available in the country.
    i'd wait until the underchassis issues have been fixed, before wheel alignment. if you align it now, when underchassis parts are replaced afterward, you will have to re-align again.
    in my experience, i have all the underchassis issues fixed sa isang puntahan ($$$). i first ask prices of this and that, assume the worst, and come back later, bringing along the estimated money expenses, + 50%..

    it's a used car, sir! that's why the seller was not selling it at near-brand new price.
    unti-unting pa-repair.. darating din ang araw, at gaganda na yang driving experience niya.

    and yes. bilib din ako sa kanila, na-i-tatago nila ang problems, until after the car has been sold, after which, parang kabuteng naglalabasan...

    goodpm,Doc pms na pala yung 30k sa casa na nibayaran ko may mga parts na pinalitan pero as usual di ko alam kung ano parang 1.belt tensioner or fan belt whatever ,2.gulong na part na metal you said na resurface pinalitan na yata whole and 3. maliit na part di ko alam 4.leaks sa engine something...sorry wasnt able to identify exactly kung ano since di naman ako maalam...was just wondering bakit hindi pa na changeoil etc which normally pms ganun diba if am not mistaken?

    good day mga sir/ mam. newbie lang po sa toyota, at dito sa tsikot forum. bought a 2005 altis 2005 1.6E A/T last october 01 lang of this year at unti unti ko ginagamay ang mga basic maintenance needs nya. the other night while i was on my way home the low oil pressure warning light suddenly came on. tired from work, i tried to ignore it and just wanted to hurry home so i can check on the internet whatever that waning light means. (about 8 kms pa ako from home nung umilaw yung warning light). the following morning, armed with the idea that this was indeed a low oil pressure warning light (thanks to pareng google ), i added engine oil and started the car to see if the warning light is still there. a few seconds after starting the car nawala na yung ilaw. and then out of curiosity, i took it to an autoshop and did an OBD scan (walang check engine warning light) at lumabas ang error code na P1349. VVT-i system malfunction daw. sabi ng mekaniko kailangan lang daw linisan yung vvt-i (or OCV?) nya. after labored attemps, hindi po nya matanggal yung vvt-i (OCV?) then ako na mismo nangayaw at baka kung ano pa ang masira nya. sabi ko ibabalik ko nalang sa ibang araw then he deleted the error code sa scanner. on my way home, suddenly strange noises started coming from the hood. i did a little bit of research again at may napanood ako sa youtube na kailangan palitan ang OCV Filter or OCV.. sa mga nakapagpalit na po nito any idea po kung magkano? paturo narin po kung pano i-DIY ang paggawa. any form of input will be very much appreciated po. thanks in advance!

    Good day mga sir at mam. Newbie po ako sa toyota, at sa tsikot forum. I bought a 2005 altis 1.6E A/T last october 1st of this year. Unti unti ko po ginagamay mga basic mintenance needs ng sasakyan. Anyway, two days ago on my way home, i noticed the low oil pressure indicator light turn on. Being tired from work, i tried to ignore it and just hurried home (aprox 8 kms away pa ako nun) to search in the internet what that indicator light exactly meant. Next morning, dinagdagan ko ng langis ang makina at tinesting ko kung mawawala yung indicator light. A few seconds after starting the engine, the warning light came off. Out of curiosity, i took the car for an OBD scan and it came with a P1349 error code (hindi umilaw yung check engine light prior sa scan). Sabi nung mekaniko kailangan lang daw linisan ang vvti nya (OCV?) but unfortunately hindi nya yun mabaklas. I said i'll just come back another day, being afraid of what he might break by forcing the valve out. On my way home, suddenly strange noises were coming from the hood. After few more researches, i learned that the ocv filter or occ might be faulty. Any idea po kung magkano ang mga piyesa na yun? Any recommendation po on what should i do next? All suggestions will be much apprecited po. Thanks in advance!

    google. it seems easy enough.
    but i'm having a hard time finding a video that shows where it is, in the engine.

    in the olden days, that glowing oil warning light meant one of two things: engine is low on oil, or, engine will need overhaul soon.
    knowing that that car is a recently-purchased used older car....
