11 members attended the EB held at the American Cemetery yesterday, January 5, 2008. They were as follows: akal, dfcsantos, ErwinNP, Islaw*Palitaw, jaspi11, Marfin, qwerty, sascha, shadow3616931, spongee & toinktoink.

It was agreed upon to donate P500 each to start the ball rolling. As the appointed treasurer, I collected a total of P 4500 from akal, dfcsantos, Islaw*Palitaw, jaspi11, Marfin, sascha, shadow3616931, spongee & toinktoink. ErwinNP & qwerty will deposit their donation on my account.

As of now, we have acquired the domain www.avanzaclub.ph at US$ 70 (PhP 2870) that is good for 2 years. I'm still waiting for the website forwarding to function. I will post later if this is already working.

The group if planning to have a new sticker for our cars, T-shirt, other projects, etc.


I propose to the members that (1) the P500 donation if good for 10 years membership. If paid annually, membership is at P100; and (2) that Jaspi be our Vice President.

Hi Qwerty. Thanks a lot for the photos from our club's EB. The shots of the Avanzas were great, especially those of the owners. By the way, puwede bang mag-post ulit ikaw ng group photos wherein naka indicate ang names ng Avanza club pilipinas members (for example from left to right)? I haven't met anyone in the group personally so it will help a lot for me to recognize the members. Thanks again and well done on a very successful and productive Avanza Club Pilipinas EB!

avanza uses h4 bulbs but it would be better if you change your headlights into projector type heads para di sabog ang bato ng ilaw, which is blinding to incoming vehicles. also, pag umuulan talo ang xenon, para kang bulag sa gabi nyan.

Hi there. newbie here * tsikot.com. in fact this would be my first post. I've been a lurker in this interesting Avanza forum. Yes, this is very informative and helpful especially to newbies like me. From all the vanzy fuzz and testimonials i read with Avanza surpassing everyone's expectation, I am now decided to join the band wagon. I'll be back to Manila this Feb and on my priority is to buy Avanza the soonest. As to which between the 1.3J and 1.5G m/t variant is what confuses me . Obviously, Im biased to 1.3J being the more affordable one. But Im worried that with 1.3, engine might be compromised in the long run.

From TMPC website, the price gap is ~185K. It is very likely that if I buy the 1.3 variant, I would end up upgrading it with all the stuff included in 1.5G. Thus i would want to know whether the upgrades in 1.5 variant is worth this price gap. Again, handsdown, this car, 1.3 or 1.5, is the best in its class. I just want to make sure that I am making the wisest decision, hence I seek everyone's honest opinion/advice. For 1.3J owners, have you ever felt you should have bought the 1.5G instead?

Btw, the car will be used ~30KM daily with 2 passengers at the most, except on weekends which perhaps could be loaded with 5-6 passengers.

Hi pestus2005. Congratulations in advance for deciding to own an Avanza. Either of the two Avanza variants is a very good choice. From my experience, i chose the 1.3J variant because it is cheaper. We are only four in the family so a sedan could have been sufficient but i felt having a seven seater vehicle for the same price as of a compact car was a very practical choice especially if it is a Toyota. At least i have the extra room in the vehicle when the need arises. Of course the G variant is way better having all the power options, accessories, and better interior trims. But for families looking for a very reliable, versatile, yet inexpensive mode of transport then the Avanza Type J perfectly serves the purpose. It is very well built and the despite having only a 1.3 liter engine, it has VVTi technology resulting to enough horsepower to pull the Avanza even with a full load. Have i ever felt that i should have bought a G variant instead? No. I was very specific with my choice, i really wanted a J variant because it served my needs for an all-around transport that was within my budget. It looks decently nice even with the stock configuration. There are currently around 23 Avanza Club Pilipinas members with a Type J. I believe all of us are proud and happy with our Avanzas. Be it the G or the J variant, you will never go wrong for choosing an Avanza.
