actually, it seems to me that a side effect of the lemon law may be to "justify" the casas' insistence on "blind" adherence to the manual's service schedule.
we might just have painted ourselves into a little corner...

Ganun ba sir.. 10k km ang oci mo using mineral oil? How's the texture and color ng oil mo? Nagpapalit ka ba ng oil filter in between 10k km?

Pretty much. The Lemon Law does not and cannot cover product issues due to misuse.

But the manufacturer should prove that the problem is due to misuse. So, while you won't get a denial of warranty on electrical problems or aircon problems for missing an oil change... the dealer can deny you warranty on engine issues for missing oil changes.

Personally, past 60,000 kilometers, I don't go to the dealer, anyway.

^^ getting the feel of the oil is not eyeballing.

Edit: it's a legit question... A simple answer would do.

I change oil every 10K on my 2000 Corolla (4AFE) since I got it 2nd hand at 47K+ Km odo way back 2006. Now it's at 202K+ km and has no major issues. I've changed thermostat due to non activation, radiator due to the plastic top cracking, alternator due to not charging, rebuild steering rack due to leak, but no issues related to engine lubrication. FC used to be 13-14Km/L but dipped to 11-12Km/l after full implementation of ethanol on gasoline. Now it remains steady at 11km/L average.
I've used Motul HTech, Mobil 1 0W40, Mag1 10W30, Delo Gold and Mobil Super 1000 so it's a mix and match of synthetic and dino oil over the years. The last 70K Km has all been dino oil.
Never used flushing oil, just drain and pour and no oil filter change in between.
However, around 70% of my drive is SLEX (Sucat to Santa Rosa) since this is my daily driver so it's rarely put on severe driving condition.
I guess older engines are more tolerant of extended OCI or I'm just lucky.
On our new corolla 3ZRFE, I intend to stick to 5K dino or 10K syn as advised by our SA for warranty purposes.

Now I am using synthetic oil which means I will change oil after a year. But my service advisor told me to change oil filter after 5000km. I am intent on follwing that advice.

I think I will have to check my oil regularly too. I only check it when we go to Metro Manila.

This is what I do as well for my innova. OCI every 10k, oil filter change every 5k. and fuel filter change every 10k as well.

why don't you all try to run your cars for 10,000kms / 6-months on dino juice (except SEVERE). that's usually the manufacturer recommended interval. you'll discover that your car will be just fine!

take note those are MILES, not metric
Is this what you do to your own car, sir? Or are you quoting someone else's opinion?

Of course we can't! One would need expensive equipment to "know the TRUE condition of your oil". Perhaps that is why we change our oil sooner than what some entities would want us to believe.
But everyone loves to see the dark oil draining from the engine during the oil change. It somehow justifies the expense incurred in the changing of the oil.
