american cars i drove in saudi in the 90's won't start if you're not stepping on the clutch. it's automatic for me before starting any M/T cars to step on clutch, put gear to neutral, then turn on ignition key (while foot is still on clutch & handbreak still engaged). "Iwas kadjot" so to speak which could be detrimental.
my 7-year old kid can start a car using this principle.

does this apply to all new models with manual transmission or specific lang sa vios? i am planning to get an innova with manual transmission; can i do this to the innova too?
I have a 2006 Mazda6 M/T. I have to step on the clutch also, before starting the engine. kung hindi, di i-start yung makina. Ewan ko sa iba, pero ganyan na ata ngayon ang mga newer models na M/T.

As for stepping on the clutch before starting the engine, Ploy lang ng dealer yan to show that the car is new pero actually, niratrat na nila yan.
Ever notice all the new cars in the dealers and running around Manila pero wala ka naman makitang car transporter na nag deliver mula assembly plant to dealer? Wonder how these cars got to the dealer's showroom?
sir OT lang, may nakita na po ako new cars na dadalin pa lang sa show room.. bilib nga ako kasi ganon pala yun.. ang laking truck tapos 6-10 brand new cars ata ang laman.. sa honda alabang ko po nakita..

Yup. Honda do deliver their cars through their cargo truck. Other car brands are just driven by their personnel that's why sometimes when you've received your car from the dealer, the odo isn't in " 0 "

but i doubt if it would really make a difference in starting the car ... baka madagdagan lang ng 1 rpm ang cranking speed
