    1st gear rev to redline

    2nd gear rev to redline

    by 3rd gear you'll be doing 100

    by 4th gear you'll be over 120

if you're doing 80 at 5th gear that means you didnt rev high enough from 1st to 4th

    what's there not to understand?

    You understood wrong.

He's NOT asking WHY he's only doing 80kph at 2.7k RPM.

He's asking the other 2E owners WHAT their RPM is when they're CRUISING at 80kph in 5th gear.

It's more of a gearing ratio question and not about maximum speed.

Tama. That would probably be the OP's question if you rephrase his original one.

he would be doing more than 80 in 5th gear at 2700 rpm if he was already doing above 120 in 4th gear above 2700 rpm

when he enters 5th gear at above 120 then lets off the gas till rpm falls to 2700 rpm he would still be doing above 80

    To the TS:

One poster said he's reading 3000 rpm, while you're getting 2700 rpm, if both your cars are of the same model, same engine, etc, then gearing is not an issue. Does your Corolla have a factory (stock) tachometer or aftermarket?

Ito naman sa akin. Nissan Vanette 2.0
Please Note that the Actual Speedometer reading is Off by Approximately 10kph.
Checked it with 2 different GPS device. True Speed is 115 kph at 3200 RPM - 5th gear.

    81 kph at 2250 RPM - 5th Gear

What I think is it has nothing to do whether you shift early or not. It's the gear ratios of the transmission.
    This is My understanding..:peace:

If you read carefully, he was doing 100kph * 3k RPM.
