Grandis is a car-based 5+2 MPV. It uses more sophisticated underpinnings, hence it is more expensive. The independent rear suspension also allows the seats to fold into the floor since there is no need to make way for a rear axle and differential.
The Innova is based on truck underpinnings of the IMV family. It is constructed in a simpler manner and was designed around the pre-existing ladder frame hence the lower cost of design, tooling, and production. The live rear axle however, will not allow the rearmost seats to fold into the floor.
They are both competent vehicles in their respective classes.
