this happened to my sister altis.

after removing the ignition key, getting out of the car and locking the car, my sister heard some noise inside the hood.

she tried to open the car but it wont work. then she tried to manually open the key manually pero matigas.

this happened before midnight and it stopped after 10 hours.

dumating ang toyota technician and with both hands on the manual key he was able to open the door. all are good. battery is not flat.

very strange. you might have heard the same situation.

The aftermarket(?) alarm is on the fritz. Have it checked or replaced. That's a dangerous thing to happen in an emergency.

Actually, the alarm appears to have gone haywire and the lock actuators (the central locking likely being managed by the faulty alarm) could be preventing the owner from unlocking the door.

Sometimes it's just the driver's side door actuator that's "stuck" ... it controls the other actuators ...
