i think its not anymore the diesel fuel that cause the choking problem of d4d/s engine but the engine design itself. If you are going to sum up all the owners of d4d's most them will tell this problem. I hate to say this but the d4d is the reincarnation of 4jx1 of trooper.

I'm looking at the Fortuner 2.5 D4D but I'm wary of the known diesel engine issues. The X-Trail 2.0 is a pretty solid car and I've had no problems with it in the almost three years that I've driven it. Its fuel consumption is the best among all small gas-fed SUVs. I usually get 10km/l on combined city-highway driving. Better wait for the new model though. I've heard unconfirmed reports that NMPI is bringing in the new model 2010 Q1, supposedly including the diesel model.

Change filter, reset ECU. Ganun pa rin. Now, the request by casa is to replace the supply pump, estimated amount 60K, at wala pang stock! Mileage is at 43K.
The casa offered to replace the fuel pump at 50% discount. OK na lang, its out of warranty na kasi.
