From a pesos and centavos point of view, an expensive hybrid doesn't make sense.
In fact, even a full-on electric car makes marginal sense in terms of fuel savings, since the cost of electricity is dependent on the cost of fossil fuels (only a portion of our electrical grid comes from renewable sources, our existing hydroelectric and geothermal plants cannot meet our energy requirements alone).
A solar car is a better idea... but the current state-of-the-art for solar cells is still too expensive and too inefficient.
If you're really concerned about gas and the environment, buy a bicycle. It automatically saves you nearly a million pesos from a car's purchase.
