    Personal ko nakita na ang isang brand new Lite-ace kailangan nyang magbwelo mula sa dulo ng drive way para lang maka akyat sa matarik na basement parking. Driver lang ang sakay nyan. Paano pa kung puno ng sakay. Marami rin ang tirik/overheat problem dati. Sablay ang toyota sa van na ito.

    i drive both a tamaraw fx and liteace. may issue ang lite ace pag iaakyat sa steep slopes kung walang laman IF coming from a stand still. walang traction ang rear wheels kaya need ng bwelo. our parking space eh lower kesya sa road kaya every time the lite ace is used need may umupo sa likod para umahon sa parking or onting bwelo. lol

    i once had it loaded with 18 persons (yes, 18 it is) without problems on inclines. that was an epic moment, kulang nalang bubong may tao rin. hahaha

    I drove a well conditioned, slightly new lite ace up to Baguio sometime 1995 full load. Kaya naman pero medyo gapang on the steep slopes after the lion statue.

    But i guess it's worth while to check the clutch as the others have suggested.

    Cruising at 50-60kph at 4th gear, dapat maakyat mo ang matataas na flyover without shifting back to 3rd. Pag nabitin, kelangan ng tune up nyan. Medyo low speed ang tranny ng lite ace.

    Sir, kung talagang matarik need mo patayin ang aircon. malakas ang liteace kapag patay ang aircon. iba ang load ng aircon compare sa passenger. sa passenger makakabwelo ang liteace but sa aircon always resist the engine kya hirap.

    we had a 2nd hand 1990 liteace from 1994 to 2005.. lagi naman sya nakaka-akyat sa matirik kahit fully loaded, ilang beses na namin ito na drive sa baguio and kahit full stop sa matirik na kenon road eh aakyat naman sya sa 1st gear.. pero syempre mabagal and once nasa 2nd gear na eh okay na hehe...

    dati bumagal liteace namin, yun pala nagtipid si erpats ng spark plugs, gumamit ng fake or not for liteace.. after palitan eh oks na ulit..

    hello sirs. I also had a 1997 liteace, nung nabili ko siya ang problem niya is hard starting and mahina humatak. So what I did was only a tune up. (clean carb, replace spark plug with platinum and change oil with fully synthetic and replace contact point and air filter). after the tune up and overall underchassis check up everything is ok. syempre ang acceleration ng liteace is not that fast pero ok lang kc ganun lang talaga ang design nya and but it can climb uphills also. ginagawa ko nalang patayin lang saglit aircon para makabwelo siya. and also tinangal ko na original air filter kasi hindi tama design ng orig filter masyado sakal. pinalitan ko muna ng screen and aircon filter pansamantala habang di pa ko nakakahanap ng applicable sa airbox nya na mag fifit.

    The Lite Ace engine is rated at 64 horsepower only. Halos nahulog ako sa upuan when I read this from official Toyota Literature. But that's it. A Vios 1.3 or even a 1990 Corolla 1.3 (the one used as Taxi) makes more power than it. So we can't expect it to keep up with traffic as easily as most modern cars.

    And that's in brand new condition. As it gets older, power may go down a bit.

    Keep it in a good state of tune always. The tips posted by our other forumers is a good place to start.

    We also had a Tamaraw FX with the same 4K engine many years ago. It made it up to Baguio once but it was crawling on first gear going through the last few climbs up Kennon.

    Imagine how good we all have it nowadays with all the CRDi, GDi, EFI, VTC, etc... My Frontier had around 85hp straight out.

    Sad to read all the negative experiences encountered from lite ace users, first of all presently using a 1990 model toyota lite ace with 5K engine but I never experience the uphill problem as posted by others going baguio, isabela with 12 or more passenger it is running at the fulest marami pa nga iniiwanan sa akyatan like nissan escapade oor isuzu dmax 2.5 kayang kaya unahan sa akyatan I agree with some advices to check the clutch assembly, distributor advancer , contact point and spark plug it helps for the good perfformance of any car also I used only XCS plus when i go long distance driving want to see proof can view my lite ace at sampaloc along blumentrit ext and have some exchanges of idea how your cars work properly,
