parang i find 390k too steep, pero pag sa mga retailers (aka shops na mismo) ito kukunin, it all depends on the condition of the car...pag sa auction yan eh medyo mahal...

    ying,

OT: pre musta yung dunlops ok ba?

yung ride ko 2lte din remember, we'll i made some research and found out that talagang issue yang overheat ng Surf 2.4 or 3L ng Aussie and UK, kahit 4runner ng US me recall din dahil sa overheating because of the cylinder head.

    try this forums about Surf/4Runner:

I own a Surf and it overheated before. The culprit was the head. It is prone to crackin. Replaced it at a price of 40K. Than I di not use the OEM head gasket. I had a one copied in Evangelista Quipo, with soft copper, asbestos and tin. The OEM is all steel, this has difficulty in sealing the cylinders.

One more thing, the Surf will not stand a 100KPH speed at long period of time. This will crack the head again even if new.

I can now use it all day long without overheating, ofcoarse you have to overhaul the radiator.

not sustain 100 kph for a long period? how long exactly? kasi nung bumaba kami sa subic, convoy kami, 2 paj and a surf, ako nasa harapan (paj)... tinatakbo ko sa north eh 100-120min and mga 140-150 pag clear yung raod... nde naman nagoverheat yung surf, pero.... nagoverheat cya kasi tumatama pala yung (bakal portion) ng power steering na high pressure hsoe dun sa lower tube ng radiator, ayan nabutas sa kaka grind and init... pero nung pinalitan namin (pain in the *$$) ok na cya...nde kaya kelangan palitan yung thermostat for tropicalized conditions para mas mabilis lumamig makina?

Far as I know, all thermostats I've seen are rated at 82 deg C; no such thing as 'tropicalized'... head crack happens when temp change is too sudden, a sticky thermostat or an incorrect unit can cause this...

*aleckskie musta na pre. dko pa nakabit yun mga grantreks, still looking for 2 pcs para complete set na. yun nakakabit kasi ngayon 225x70x15s. btw thanks a lot for the links ha, they were very helpful at totoo nga, meron talaga problema yan mga 2L-TEs with regards sa overheating. Having 2nd thots na tuloy if kukunin pa namin yun Prado pero yun seller is willing naman to have it road tested on the highway para malaman nga if it will overheat on high speed or under load.

*turbo salamat pre for the info re the custom made head gaskets. can you pls. tell me exactly where ka nagpagawa? saka how much inabot??

you mean to say even after using that head gasket at overhauled radiator for sure na mag-overheat pa rin yan surf mo if running sustained speeads above 100 kph?

*Maki ClemO thanks too for your inputs!!

Some thermostats do open earlier. Pero its better to stick with factory specs.

Yes, it will overheat again because the 2LT head cannot stand boost for a long time. The head gasket cost 1,200. If you bring the gasket, runners will approach you and offer to have it custombuilt.

Since changing to a new head(from the 3LT, which is not prone to cracking) I have not experienced overheating. Had tested it to run 100kph for sometime and has not experienced overheating. Hope it helps.
