December 22nd, 2008 08:03 AM #1Since my car is new (present ODO reading is 882), I have been recording my fuel consumption by manually computing the same. It turns out that my consumption is only 6.5891 kilometers per liter. At one time I recorded a 5.731 kilometers per liter. the Info in the dashboad displays between 6.2 to 6.3 k/l. How can I improve my fuel consumption? by the way, all i had is city driving. Is this the normal or avarage fuel consumption for an Innova G gas a/t?
Is it true that there will be beter fuel efficiency if I will have a full tank everytime I go to a gas station? I usually only fill my tank with gas equivalent to 500 or 1,000 pesos only, and never had it filled full tank. Would that make a difference?

to accurately check your FC... full tank ka automatic.. reset TRIP A, then use it as per your normal usage.. then full tank ka ulit automatic click ulit.. then get total kms of TRIP A then divide by number of liters.

Engine has not yet even reached 1K, there's more room for improving FC. I gradually reached 10-11Km/li on G M/T when I reached 3K ODO. Below 1K ODO my FC was still registering 8Km/li way back then, but after running it at high speed (100-150kph) in NLEX, FC improves dramatically to 10Km/li on city driving.
MID is accurate in my own experience, I already get tired of computing manually which is always they same reading I get from MID.
Even on LPG fuel, my MID reads accurately.

December 22nd, 2008 11:55 AM #9another cebu tsikoteer here......my route is usually the within cebu city with very occasional roadtrips(carcar, dalaguete, liloan areas)...I got a different ride, though....
Here is how I compute my FC
1. have a full tank fill-up
2. reset trip meter
3. wait for next fill-up sked(usually when my fuel meter reads around 1/4 full)
4. have another full tank fill-up
5. get trip meter reading
6. get total liters filled-up
7. get FC.
As for your inquiry regarding filling-up your tank....if you will not be measuring your FC, it is better to have just enough fuel in your tank to take you to your trip(especially that you mentioned you only do city driving)....more fuel in your tank means more weight being carried around while you move.....so it will then result to higher fuel consumption....
you can have full tank if you will be taking road trips or if you are not familiar with the area where you will go..(if there will be gas stations along the way...)

It'll depend on traffic... but around 6.5 is not terrible for a 2.0 AT in city traffic... the old CR-Vs could hit as low as 4 flat.
There's room for improvement... typically fuel economy should be better after 10,000 kilometers.
