That's why it's not sold in Japan... it's well below of Toyota's own standards. It's a vehicle designed to make money(Toyota IMV project is well advertised in Discovery Channel), not designed to make an awesome one. POS. Perhaps if Jeremy Clarkson would come across one, he would probably beat it with a sledgehammer.

check this explanation about rotational inertia from http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasc.../phy00124.htm:

Rotational inertia is a resistance to change of rotation. The more
rotational inertia an object has, the less it responds to being spun. The
outside parts of a spinning object have to move much faster than inside
parts near the axis. How an object is built, and along what direction you
want to spin it, also affect the rotational inertia.

and conversely, it could apply to stopping the object's rotation.

Ayon din sa Thai forums, ang cause daw ng brake problem ay sa mods ng rim size. 20" and bigger yata ay delikado na sa stock brakes ng Fortuners.

Im not so sure how this affects the brakes. Pero here are the links sa Thai forums:

another thread: read the posts by "Emilio" on brakes, mods and rim sizes

*shockz: This is great information! Kaya fellow fortuner owners who've done mods on your tires, mags and brake systems... Monitor the effects of your modifications and be mindful of your driving habits.

    -----------

a bit of a stretch naman yung mga accusations na yung fortuner is "not sold in Japan because quality isn't up to snuff". hindi naman yan yung criteria para ibenta sa japan yung sasakyan

Madami din namang labas na panget sa Japan and be glad those vehicles were for JDM consumption only. The Toyota IMV project was NEVER intended for Japanese consumption but it does not mean Toyota will intentionally make a lemon.

Stock tyres ang sure na ginamit for the test at di 20" rim.

Is it because of the momentum from a heavier body that's causing the brakes to not work properly? Its also probably because Toyota tried to scrimp so much that they replaced the rear ones from discs to drums and selling it to people for the same price as discs! :D
